I suspect it’s part of the real reason that the Clintons ousted Joycelyn Elders. She said it too. They shluffed it off later that it was because of her notion of teaching kids how to masturbate.
At a certain point, certain treatments and surgeries do not make sense ... that much is true. BUT it should be the patient and doctor who make that call, not the government.
If a surgery is not recommended due to frailty or some other medical problem the patient has, a scrupulous doctor would not recommend it and would not perform it. The patient can either take the doctor’s advice or find another doctor who will do it.
I have personal experience with this. My mother needed knee replacement, however she was told that her blood pressure needed to be lower and a cataroid blockage needed to be fixed first before they would consider it. She got her blood pressure down and had the blockage removed. All this took over a year.
Finally, she was OK’d for the knee replacement, but she wanted both knees done at once, which few doctors would do. So she shopped around until she found a doctor who would do that ... but even he said he would not do the second knee if he saw problems with her vital signs during the surgery on the first knee. No guarantees on the second knee. Fine, that’s his perogotive.
She went ahead and it turned out she got her wish, both both knees were replaced in the same surgery (recovery was hell but she only had to go through it once).
None of this involved the government making a decision for my mother. It was all negotiatons between her and doctors.

So his grandmother wouldn’t just have to take a painkiller for the pain of a broken hip, but even in her last months with cancer, she isn’t allowed to be mobile?
Oh, yeah, his grandma, who raised him...no photos of her with the wife or kids...no interviews with her or articles about her...no media curiosity...a deep void, there.
That seems to be exactly what he said. Time to get the seniors riled up about how they aren’t going to be treated because they are no longer productive!
This is where the money savings go to foreigners and foreign countries!
Government is an otherwise rational system thwarted by the greed of political/financial gain and human error, but it has no heart.
Families (at best) make decisions based on care and concern (heart), yet are limited by financial means and human error.
Who would you want to provide for and thereby make the decisions about your healthcare?
IMO this is where Obama's personal insanity is greatly exposed. He has little experience with real family (his father and, then later, his mother abandoned him) proving that they/humans cannot be trusted. This is why he has embraced (with an odd robotic kind of fervor not to included passion and/or emotion) the idea that government has the answer to all our human questions.
I think we at FR have all suspected for quite some time now that he is insane. And now he is slowly but surely proving it!

The President saying government can determine when you are going to die. Congress telling us they can control the temperature of the earth.
Seems the liberals have gone from telling us how to live our lives to telling God how to run the earth.
