I think that there are quite a few Spainish families who still maintain their Persian heritage. I knew one who still follows Zoroastrianism and said that his family has lived in the hills of Spain for centuries. Oddly, before he told us that, someone had claimed that he spoke Spanish with a kind of Middle Eastern accent.
Interesting, but I don’t know how this woman would be tied to Spain... Since Brazil was colonialized by Portuguese, I think the connection a fellow FReeper made to Portuguese cultured parts of India make sense. Or the name is from her former husband.
Note that the newer articles call her Chapur, not Shapur.
