The racy, private email messages that have S.C. Governor Mark Sanford in the middle of a political firestorm are said to have originated from the jilted ex-husband of the governors alleged mistress, Maria Belen Chapur, multiple independent sources are telling FITS.
A source at The (Columbia, S.C.) State newspaper, which published several of the emails yesterday afternoon, could not confirm who sent them, however.
The paper originally received the emails several months ago but declined to investigate whether or not they were authentic until this week.
Obviously, this would be quite an interesting twist to this ongoing saga as most people - including us - naturally assumed that the emails were leaked by a political opponent of Gov. Sanford here in the United States.
Developing
Some others have pointed out the same thing. I suppose it would make much more sense that they were sitting on it until they really needed it.
“Supposedly, Mark Sanford has seen this woman only three times in the last year, including this last time (when he was nailed coming back from Argentina).”
Did he say he’s only seen her three times, or did he only travel to Argentina three times? Is it possible that she’s traveled to SC as well?
But I agree, a three “session” affair, isn’t much of an affair - like you, not excusing his behavior.
the gov is obviously obsessed.
she is all he and MarkJr. think about 24/7.
While the 4 of them decide what to do, he should resign from being governor immediately. there is no room in his tiny mind for the business of his state while her lovely hips fill his thoughts.
I’m waiting for a wife to come on and say:
“My husband is a total jerk. I have been devoted to him and loved him, gave him four children, attended umpteen thousand political events, tolerated the lack of privacy, the long hours, the constant pressure, and the near insanity of trying to have some sort of home life to further his career and better this nation, and this is what I get. Not to mention that our innocent children get to deal with the fact that their dad held them in such high regard that he chased after a tramp in Argentina repeatedly, and his sophomoric emails are now public property. I plan to never have anything to do with him again, and will fight for full custody of the children.”

Re: my above post, Jenny took a step in the right direction when she failed to appear, all doe-eyed, at his mea culpa press conference.
With the keystone cop routine that the governor pulled when he disappeared off the face of the earth last Thursday this story had no where to go but public.
The Governor’s own appointed security head initiated a search for the governor, this was extremely self destructive behavior drawing national attention even if he had actually been on the Appalachian trail with no girlfriend.
How many times did Clinton do Monica.
Was that much of an affair?
I thought that she did pretty good Monday and Tuesday also, considering what she had to deal with.
They were saving it until the best time. Some time after Sanford would have announced he was running for prez.
Maximum damage and exposure. Think about this being released during a presidential primary or just prior to the general election.
They don't even pretend objectivity anymore.
Obi in a few years??
You're right. But without being able to do much to aid the revolution, it's easy to get caught up in other things.
Well, if they were waiting until he became a viable presidential candidate, they have spent their ammo. And I thank them for their service. I don’t like creeps in the White House. I want a decent man running my country.
If I had been the one cheating, my wife would have appeared in handcuffs as she was led past a stretcher covered with a white sheet...
“Why did you shoot him 7 times with a .45?”
“I couldn’t find the other clip.”
One never knows for sure what goes on, or doesn’t go on behind closed doors. If Sanford’s wife was a ‘B’ to live with, he simply should have waited for the kids to grow up and then leave her. IF she was making it difficult for him to have sex with her, she might have some culpability.
A few years ago, Dr. got a letter from a married man who had cheated on his wife. He made the point that there are cases where wives withhold affection and sex, and if so, she shouldn’t be too hard on the man. Ever since then, Dr. Laura asks women calling about their cheating husbands how easy did they make it for their husbands to have sex with them.
Generally speaking, and if the guy is a good man, he will not cheat is his needs for sex are being met with enthusiasm by his wife.
McCain probably knew, because if Sanford was considered for the VP spot, Sanford had to come clean with it.
I think it was timed to maximize the damage to both men and the Republican party. They obviously waited for the exact time that it would have the greatest political damage. Someone was a snitch inside Sanford's campaign and probably got money for leaking the emails. That's the twofer punch: humiliation AND exposing of the affair so he will not be likely to recover from the double blow. Very clever move by political enemies. It just smacks of Democratic operatives and the tactics they used during the last election when Stevens was indicted right before the election. Along with the guy in CO who did the get out the vote being outted right before the election too. Notice the muted response from Democrats right now. I smell a rat in all this.
And if she had a jury of her peers, she’d be acquitted!
WHERE did Clinton do Monica? This "other woman" isn't an intern.
