So they tell us a conservative can't get elected in PA. It is beginning to look like Specter can't get elected as a Democrat. Toomey still has a ways to go but most of his problem is name recognition and money but Arlan is polling very weak for an incumbent. If I were Toomey I'd make sure a Democrats for Toomey plank is started early. This is one candidate I'll be supporting. Specter can be defeated. Don't forget to contribute. If you can't give a lot give $5-$10-$25 every two weeks or every month till election. Don't think you can't play a role. You can. We all can make a difference.

Too bad. Sooo sad.

Hopefully he will get the democrat nomination if these numbers hold up.

The idiots in Phili who are largely uninformed, but vote for a living, will instinctively vote against him because they will see his name on the ballot and think he’s the republican candidate. Many of them have probably voted for the name opposite of his for years. I’d say this could be worth 5 points for his opponent.

"It is beginning to look like Specter can't get elected as a Democrat."

Every now and then I get just the slightest inclination to re-think the fashionable idiocy of Karma.

Hey Specter: you still support the Porkulus and think it was a good idea?

Looks like you’ll be joining the 10% unemployed very, very, soon. :)

I sure hope so. It would be such a delight to see him go down.

"I think what he's got going is the worst of both worlds," Madonna said.

As a former Catholic, I can tell you that when Madonna says you're in deep doo-doo, you know you stink.

"Voters have a lot of uncertainty about what he is likely to do."

They can't say he's not a good Democrat in that department.

He can ALWAYS be counted on to do whatever he thinks is best for him at the moment.

You know you could probably really confuse the Democrats in Philly. The one truth that is going to make it very very hard for Specter is that Democrats are not going to be inspired to come out for him in an off year election. It just isn’t going to happen but Toomey is going to have lots of momentum and he could go a long way to confuse people about Specter by establishing Democrats for Toomey to be used in Democrat districts to help pick up support and just confuse the hell out of them.

"establishing Democrats for Toomey to be used in Democrat districts"

A very good idea. Also, some PAC could be setup to run ads labeling democrats that "switch sides" to support Specter as 'traitors'. It would create lots of confusion in their ranks. There could also be democrat "awareness" efforts to inform voters of a 'scam' or 11th hour dirty trick trying to fool them by telling them that Specter is the democrat. Lots of fun could be made of his switching sides.

The strong backing of Democratic Party leaders has done little to change slumping public support for the party's newest convert, U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter. Only 28 percent of all those surveyed say that he deserves re-election, according to the latest Keystone Poll, and double that number say it's time for a change.

Specter's party switch, announced April 28, has hurt his job-performance ratings among Democrats as well as Republicans, according to a telephone survey of 498 registered voters, conducted last week by the Center for Opinion Research at Franklin & Marshall College.

It couldn't happen to a more deserving turncoat sleazebucket.

Now that he is a Democrat maybe he should get caught in a homosexual sex tryst scandal. That should improve his standings with Democrats by 400%.

If the Dems don’t want him he might have to switch again to the Green Party to see how that pans out.
