My point was, taking that into account,
that it obviously didn’t have enough “meaning”..

All of us do what we KNOW is wrong. We know what it “means” but we do it anyway. The Freudian may say, we can’t help ourself. The Christians says, yes, we can. A man breaks covenant with his wife. If he is a Christian he also breaks covenant with God.
