if it does come to law and doubles electric bills it will increase just my power cost alone at my businesses 175,000 bucks a year
not to mention how power costs affect everything else

many well meaning but utterly hopelessly naive folks here who only have business knowledge from the internet and books or goofy college professors hiding in the sanctuary of academic tenure, think that all costs such as these can be passed on just like magic to the consumer.

only businesses who can pass this on like nothing are monopolies...nice job if you can get it and even they have to get approval...that and folks with informal collusion
in the competitive world you find where to cut to make this up more than simply raise prices, you just raise prices and someone down the street will cut cost elsewhere and underprice you

I am not a businessman. I don’t want the headaches with it. I am happy to be a simple productive worker, but even I know that if my employer’s overhead increases, he might be able to ride through it without increasing prices if it is temporary like the $4/gal gas last summer. However, if his energy bills DOUBLE (and my company has about 80 vehicles that drive 50,000+ miles per vehicle per year), then my employer MUST increase the price of his product or go out of business. If you are manufacturing something and barely beating the Chinese, doubling your power bill will probably destroy that tiny edge you have.
