IRAN: Search for foreign scapegoats is dangerous

Angry accusations of provocative meddling in Iran's post-election upheaval by Britain, the US, and Europe have been crisply batted away by Western politicians. But the daily torrent of allegations is straining already rocky relations with Tehran and could have a lasting, deleterious impact in a range of key policy areas, principally on efforts to curb Iran's nuclear ambitions.

A seemingly orchestrated campaign to blame Iran's troubles on the West is now in full swing and it is as yet uncertain how far the regime is prepared to go. British and European ambassadors have been repeatedly carpeted by the foreign ministry. BBC broadcasts have been jammed and its resident correspondent expelled.

And in an unsubtle attempt to deflect attention from himself, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad personally warned British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and US President Barack Obama to "correct your interfering stances".

The UK is at serious risk.

1. They still represent European colonial power in much of the world.

2. They have shown tremendous weakness in the past concerning their kidnapped sailors (remember the female sailor being put in a Burks?).

3. Obama has made it clear that there is no longer a special relationship between the UK and the USA.

4. They have no capability on their own to stand up to Iran militarily. Their capability is a shadow of what it was during the Falklands (and it was weak then).

Angry accusations of provocative meddling in Iran’s post-election

I’ve always wondered why our propaganda machine doesn’t respond to this garbage with equally outrageous claims.

Some ideas for headlines of papers/flyers spread throughout Iran:

Mullahs murder thousands protesting peacefully. Hundreds of thousands of Iranians missing. Mass graves found outside city...witnesses claim shootings of hundreds at a time who are murdered with machine guns while they fall into the pits dug to accommodate thousands of dead bodies.

We play nice while their propaganda eventually is believed in the Arab world. Common now, let’s get dirty
