Palin Wins Kansas Presidential Straw Poll
Kansas City Star ^ | June 28, 2009 | Steve Kraske

President -- 2012

Sarah Palin: 76

Mike Huckabee: 54

Mitt Romney: 52

Bobby Jindal: 19

Ron Paul: 9

In a straw poll at the Olathe Republican Party's annual Picnic and Straw Poll Saturday at the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop, Todd Tiahrt grabbed a big win in a straw poll faceoff.

Tiahrt and Moran, both members of Congress, are squaring off in the GOP primary next year for the U.S. Senate.

Saturday's results:

Tiahrt: 165 votes.

Moran: 46.

The 3rd District, which encompasses the site of the poll, is a major battleground in the primary race given that Moran hails from Hays and Tiahrt from Wichita.

Organizers also staged a 3rd District Congress straw poll for the right, presumably, to take on Democratic incumbent Dennis Moore next year.

Those results:

Patricia Lightner: 74.

Macie Houston: 33

Daniel Gilyeat: 30

Darla Jaye: (write-in): 24.

For governor:

Sam Brownback: 197

Other: 12.

Secretary of State:

Kris Kobach: 192

JR Claeys: 22

Look for her to be a target of every one of the candidates listed below her.

Is anybody even sure that there definitely will be elections in ‘12? The leftist majority could really end the idea of even having any more elections in the future!

The surest sign that the Dems are seriously afraid of her is that nobodies like Kerry have to malign her.

If they weren't worried, they would ignore her.

The following is provided as a service to the “Team Romney” stop that damn woman division in order to save time and budget money:

“This is all a lie, everyone knows Mitt Romney is the only one who is smart enough, experienced enough and gosh darned it good looking enough to be our candidate.

Sarah is just an un intellectual back water hick with a trashy family yada, yada yada etc. etc. etc....”

You many now resume your reality based debate where Mrs. Palin is becoming an outstanding potential candidate that is making the RINO Country Club "Republicans" REAL nervous...

Two years from now, straw polls STILL won’t be very good predictors.

Still, YAY SARAH!

Gad, I can’t believe Huckabee came in second.

I’d vote for Ron Paul ahead of the Huchster.

Gov. Barbour did a great interview this morning: now that he’s head of the RGA, do you think we could get him to fill in for Mr. Steele’s appearances too?

Look to be?

Try already happening.

Have you seen the Mittbot posts the past few weeks alone?

Take any given anti Palin post on FR and track back the posters history. 95% are Mittbots.

She is the greatest threat to their golden child.

You can tell that the left fears Palin by how loudly they attack her.

Anything is possible. If nothing else he will at least be as visible.

What I am hoping is that if he doesn't run himself (a 50/50 shot) he will assist Palin. Word is he sees potential there.

If they weren't worried, they would ignore her.

Not just the Dems like Kerry.

The Grand Old Party centrist/big-tent/country-clubbers are worried that she might upset their aspirations.
