Obama: Ouster of Honduras President Was an Illegal Coup (Obama sticks up for the Marxist again)
fox news ^ | 6/29/2009 | ap

President Obama on Monday declared that the United States still considers Manuel Zelaya to be the president of Honduras and assailed the coup that forced him into exile as "not legal," deepening the chasm between the Central American nation and much of the rest of the world.

I’m stunned that Zero would loudly and repeatedly state a position that is so very, very far from center. This is amazing!

Millions of Americans stopped cold when they heard the Honduras action had been done under constitutional guidelines. That changed everything. Instead of just another Caribbean coup, this became a legal question and, better yet, a teachable moment for the rising pro-constitution movement in America. This was how a constitution in peril was supposed to work!

But instead we have Hillary and Zero loudly opposed? Joined by Castro, Chavez and Ortega, the Red Stars of South America? Speaking against an action taken under constitutional authority? This is priceless!

Either this is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen Zero do, or its the last warning we get before our own constitution is openly opposed.

He’s exposing his hand here folks, for everyone to see. It is very odd that he would do so, unless he feels somewhat invincible. Major Garrett called him on Iran, now he totally ignores the Honduran Constitution and sides with Chavez and Castro. He is telegraphing to everyone that he does not support a country’s constitution (Honduras) and will allow sham elections to be portrayed as legitimate (Iran). He knows we know that we can extrapolate that he might try the same thing here, and he doesn’t care. My guess is he is very close to achieving a goal that will allow him to do so, and thinks we can’t do anything about it.

It's not a warning. He's emboldened. Something is afoot.

Obama promoting the lie.

Along with the majority of the corporate media.

It was Zelaya attempting to seize power, even though he was only halfway through his term he decided to, with Chavez' aid, violate the Constitutional limits on executive power in several ways:

-Called for a plebiscite to change the term limit stated in the Constitution (only the Congress can arrange plebiscites, by a 2/3 vote)

-Publicly agitated against the constitutional authority of the congress to enforce the law, and against the constitution itself

-Sought the aid of the Military to achieve his plan, and when it wasn't forthcoming, sacked the officers who didn't co-operate

-sought and gained the aid of a foriegn government to subvert his own

-Etc...

That obama would be sympathetic to these shennanigans does not surprise me. That the mass media would represent this as "democracy", and the lawful process as a "military coup" frightens me; this is the propagation of The Big Lie, and a clear indication of the direction this administration intends to go.

There is the matter of the approx 200 million in US aide that Honduras receives every year. If Obama doesn’t recognise the current government, would this be cut off?

I would expect aide to be cut off to Honduras at any time now. After all, they aren’t Hamas.

First, Obummer, the Fascist can not force the people of Honduras to do anything.

______________________________________

Scenario.....

Zelaya, acting as the 'duly recognized' president of honduras, officially requests that Chavez and/or Castro provide the required assistance to restore his government. Venezuela and/or Cuba send troops and some of those dozens of Russian attack helicopters that Chavez bought from Putin.

A small-scale war erupts between the Honduran military and the invading communist forces. The Honduran left fights with the commies.

Our POS-TOTUS allows Zelaya's 'request' as legal. The US does nothing.

I wrote this in my profile nearly eight years ago....

"Latin America is the 'fire next time'.

All coups are by definition “illegal”.

True, but we have to consider this -- what Zelaya was attempting to do is a "coup" against their constitution ( he is emulating Hugo Chavez ). Their law requires only two terms. Zelaya in violation of their law wanted to grab power for a third term. This is lawlessness we cannot condone.

"All coups are by definition “illegal”. "

Removing someone from an office they are holding illegally or unconstitutionally is not a coup . . . by definition.

True. I was just pointing out the stupidity of the remark, “illegal coup”.

Of course Zelaya was arrested, impeached by their legislature, and it sounds like their constitution was duly enforced by those sworn to uphold it. Obama is barking up the wrong tree (as always). The Left is again always friends with the enemies of freedom and democracy.

I know. Just being supportive. And, you're right, 'illegal coup' is about as stupid a remark as something like 'unlawful robbery.'

I have thought about your post and I not only believe that you are correct, but I believe you most likely have predicted the outcome.

Disgusting.

We do have the Manchurian Candidate.
