Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora says GOP conspiracy behind corruption probe
The Cleveland Plain Dealer Online ^ | June 29, 2009 | Mark Puente/ Joe Guillen

CLEVELAND -- Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora on Monday accused the U.S. Department of Justice of launching its local public corruption probe two years ago in a conspiracy with Republicans to undermine the Democratic turnout for Barack Obama.

• Earlier version of story.Dimora said he and his lawyers will ask the Justice Department and Congress to investigate the motives behind the corruption probe, which became public last July when FBI agents raided the commissioner's home and office and the home and office of political ally Frank Russo, the county auditor. "This is a Republican-driven prosecution," Dimora said during a late-afternoon news conference at the county administration building. He said he believes national Republican Party strategist Karl Rove helped initiate the probe.

Uh-oh! Someone’s been caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

Perhaps this guy believes Obama will come to his rescue and call off the probe.

1/4 ton Jimmy is in big trouble...he went on a 45 minute rant today over an indictment of three of his political cronies...He is sweating out the summer waiting for his chance to go to prison.

This is why Cleveland has so many problems fifty + years of corrupt Democrat rule.

Jimmy G.E.D. Dimora is a former mayor of Broadview Heights, the most corrupt city in the most corrupt county in the country.

For weeks, Democratic activists and elected officials in this county have had plenty to say about Jimmy Dimora behind his back, but at the sight of a reporter, their own backs buckle.

Instead of saying publicly what they whisper privately — that the scandal swirling around Dimora has made him bad for the party and worse for the county — they sound like the enabling siblings of a brother they fear as much as they love.

http://www.cleveland.com/schultz/index.ssf/2009/06/cuyahoga_commissioner_dimora_c.html

It doesn’t matter that Dimora has so far escaped indictment. Federal agents raided his house. Recent documents make it clear that he is suspected of personally benefiting from public coffers, and sometimes at the expense of our poorest citizens.

Jimmy Dimora has lost his moral authority. Nobody with integrity trusts him anymore.

His fellow commissioners, Peter Lawson Jones and Tim Hagan, appear to be aging before our eyes as they attempt to rein in their colleague even a little. Last Thursday, Dimora scoffed at their request that he refrain from voting on public business until the federal investigation is resolved.

Dimora waits, and cronyism congeals. Longtime party insiders — County Prosecutor Bill Mason chief among them — see opportunity in Dimora’s demise and are already plotting to consolidate for themselves the kind of influence that has brought little good to this county.

Heh Heh - i didn't listen to the entire rant, but the first 2 minutes were enough to make it clear that he's barely treading water and is about to drown in a corrupt ocean of his own making. Frankly, Jimmy D. sounds like a mafia thug. I hope that the evidence against him is slowly released to the public, day by day. And I hope it's ample to drag down a few other dregs in that crooked political machine.

I can't believe that he thinks Carl Rove is behind this investigation. Has he even considered that it is his own corrupt self that might have some bearing on the case?

Yeah, the stuff he said last night as I listened on my ride home from work was just stunning. The guy was literally unhinged! Rove, yes Carl Rove is orchestrating all this! LOL.

Oh and the part about political contributions? Dems. get next to nothing, but the Republican party gets so much more money...? Maybe if we had an untampered with election in Cuyahoga County the people would choose to throw these bums out! I volunteered last November to be a poll watcher, the Republicans were so disorganized I didn't have a poll to watch, a poll pass ...nothing. Weeks later I got a letter of apology for the fiasco. Conspiracy my butt! We couldn't even get our act together! Let alone the restrictions the BOE told us existed. We couldn't even use our cell phone cameras!

Ugh!!! Don't even get me started. Everything Dimora rants on about is a farce and a lie.

Actually, the ass is in the middle.....

Thanks to the last 25 years of Dem control in this once great city, Cuyahoga County now proudly hold claim to the welfare capital of America. It doesn’t matter who the candidate is, as long as a D Is next to his/her name, those who have nothing better to do, like work come election day will vote for them. They know what’s been given to them for decades and as long as the machine keeps humming, that won’t change.

Then we have the mayor of my city, Parma. It seems Dean DePiero has had his hand in the cookie jar too and has been mentioned as a fringe player in this mess. Then there is the ward 16 councilman in Cleveland(where my grocery store is)who told me to my face that welfare isn’t a problem even after a report came out saying 36% of country residents receive benefits complete strangers provide to them.

There has to come a time when those of us who think work is still important can overcome those who don’t and get all the scum out of county government once and for all....

Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora on Monday accused the U.S. Department of Justice of launching its local public corruption probe two years ago in a conspiracy with Republicans to undermine the Democratic turnout for Barack Obama.

The entire media-DNC collusion (and there was communication between the two entities) of "vast culture of corruption" in 2006 was designed to suppress GOP convervative turnout ("psst, there are HOMOSEXUALS in the GOP").

All Northeast Ohio Freepers:

Another municipal election season has begun!

Amazingly, some observers refer to the odd-numbered years as the “off-years” politically. You know as do we that as Republicans here in Cuyahoga County, nothing could be further from the truth. With over 200 incumbent Republicans holding local office, and 121 of those Republican office-holders up for re-election in 2009 - out of the 420 local contests in our county - this year this is very much a year of opportunity.

Our mayors in Bay Village, Cuyahoga Heights, Mayfield Heights, Olmsted Falls, Rocky River and Westlake are all standing for re-election, and we are proud to stand with them. Although the, 121 local Republican elected officials who are up this year, includes 88 members of municipal councils and 20 members of local boards of education who provide the leadership that represents our strength and our future. We brighten that future and enhance our strength by recruiting, supporting and working with new candidates - challengers for local office. With filing deadlines approaching in June, July and August for elections in 49 area communities and all 30 school districts in the county, we need qualified, experienced, willing Republicans to consider taking up the mantle of leadership and service to their community by running for local office.

If that person may be you or someone you know, please contact the RPCC’s new Political Director, Jen Thrasher, for a complete list of filing deadlines and information about becoming a candidate.
