I presume you’ve seen The Producers? 1960s Mel Brooks farce in which two con men discover a way to make a fortune... all they have to do is produce a Broadway-type show that’s a total failure. That way, they can shut the show down, take all the money from their backers and quietly leave town with it.
So they dream up the worst possible, most tasteless thing they can come up with... and decide they have a “guaranteed” failure when they turn up an avid Nazi screenwriter who completely adores Hitler and wants to produce a musical entitled “Springtime for Hitler.”
Unfortunately for the producers, disaster strikes when the show unexpectedly fails to be the disaster they were planning for...
