FL 2010: Anti-tax group at odds with Crist; Club for Growth likes GOP rival [Marco Rubio]
The Washington Times ^ | 2009-06-29 | Donald Lambro

The Club for Growth, a conservative anti-tax group, is considering running ads in the Republican Party's Senate primary race against Florida Gov. Charlie Crist for supporting higher state taxes and President Obama's $787 billion economic stimulus spending package.

Mr. Crist's opponent for the Republican Party's nomination next year is former state Speaker of the House Marco Rubio, a young conservative running on cutting government spending and taxes who recently met here with the Club for Growth, which has a strong reputation for defeating liberal and moderate Republicans in party primaries with its aggressive ad campaigns.

"We recently interviewed Marco Rubio and were impressed. We are very concerned about the two major tax increases Charlie Crist recently signed and believe there's no excuse for his active support of the Obama big-government 'stimulus' spending bill," said David Keating, the club's executive director. "We are actively considering the race."

"There's not a set timeline for endorsement, but we look forward to completing our research on his record and that of his opponent, as well as our assessment of the competitiveness of this race before making a decision," Mr. Keating said.

The days of the country club “republicans” are over. We need to start electing Americans if we are ever going to take our country back from the Marxists.

Crist would undoubtedly support Cap and Trade, a second stimulus, and would likely support some sort of Amnesty for Illegals.

This is going to be an interesting race to follow. I've been hearing a lot of good things about Rubio.

This is a tax on the lower and middle class. He got thousands of emails telling to vote no and he did it anyway. Hav-a-Tampa Cigar has been in Ybor City in Tampa since 1902. They are now closing, laid everyone off and moving their production out of the US. These damned politicians are killing this country and Crist is an obama butt kisser. He has to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why put Crist, who will be a certain vote in favor of gay issues, into the Senate?

Crist,
My gov. is a lying RINO turd.
Ran on a platform of cutting raising taxes. A lie.
Ran on a platform of reigning in insurance rates, he lied.
Supported and accepted obamma lammas stimulus money.
Has his lips on anyone that will further his career.
Is a closet fag.
Other than that He has a nice sun tan.

A few days ago a WSJ Opinion piece said Christ was ‘Barney Frank’ like.

Ahem.

The country club coastal elites really liked how Christ got the poorer, more conservative inland middle class to subsidise ocean/water front homes through his SCHEME of hurricane insurance. Basically insurance welfare.

Romney does health welfare.
Crist does insurance welfare.
Bush did massive corporate welfare.

And they say they are ‘for’ the middle class when all they do is pile on taxes and debts for their rich friends.

Take it from us here in Pennsylvania, it wasn’t easy to send Arlen Specter packing and Charlie isn’t walking out of the room for you.

I have some thoughts based on PA experiences with fighting RINO’s like Arlen and others.

“The party” will stop at nothing to get Charlie through the primary including third and fourth split off candidates, racial allegations against Rubio (they’ll use illegal immigration).

If the polling data shows Rubio picking up steam the attack on him will sharpen.

No doubt McCain, George W. Bush and others will do what they can to help Crist. Dick Cheney is the party establishment, too. They stand as one to defend their own.

We had a pro-abortion GOP candidate for governor in 1990 ( she’s now a Democrat) and then VP Dan Qualye did his duty and hosted a fundraiser for her. She was the darling of our GOP establishment and Bob Casey Sr. (not the liberal Junior now in the Senate) crushed her 68-32 percent.

Lets try to get Sarah Palin on Rubio’s side.

Warn all national Republican figures who want to run in 2012 to stay away from Crist. You won’t support them for president if they support Crist for senate.
