The dumbest story I ever heard was five (5) teenage boys taking their dad's BMW M5 out on a runway to see how fast it would go......
For some reason, no one in the car figured out that aircraft runways, do eventually end.
IIRC the car left the freeway at 150+ MPH and flew into a 300 year old tree. The police/EMT at the scene said that it was the most gruesome scene they ever encountered and that they had to use DNAblood types to match the body parts together.
Even the superior safety of a BMW can't compete with mother natures's laws of physics
Bottom line, no matter the car, at certain speeds you are simply meat-ware strapped onto a missile. The head of that extreme rightwing Austrian party died in a VW Phaeton ...an extremely safe car. Princess Di died in a Mercedes S Class, a veritable tank. At certain speeds, even a Range Rover Vogue will be scrapped. Drive safe.
At my 15 year college reunion in April, someone reminded me of the time we borrowed a friend’s BMW. I got it up to 130. When my friend brought it up, I felt physically sick at the memory. How STUPID of me, and how careless. I was 21 at the time. I knew better but did it anyway.
In high school I routinely stole my parents car at 3am and took it on joyrides to see how fast I could go. Then I’d replace the gas I’d used and roll it back in the driveway - they never found out. Again, I feel sick at the thought of what could have happened. I was a stupid young woman, but very lucky.
