If we band together and refuse to spend money on anything but necessities we could have this Administration on the ropes. Of course it would hit many businesses. But maybe Socialism needs to FAIL in epic proportions so we can get our Republic back. If we could wait on purchases until Congress and the White house changes parties, we would be “voting with our feet.” Seems more forceful than our Republicans in office can be. Not to trample on them while they’re down, but I think they are starting to listen to Grassroots Conservative ANGER.

DITTO. Obama and the Dems came to power with support from independents (approx 35 percent of pop). Conservatives represent 40 percent, libs 25 percent. The only way to make the independents lose faith in Obama and the Dems is to help the economy to fail. This can be done like you said, buy only necessary things, with hold spending on non esstentials. If all the conservatives did that, sales would plummet, more layoffs and the independents will grumble. This is call consumer vigilantism. This can work because 2/3 of the US economy depends on consumer spending. You are right people will get hurt by this strategy, but it will turn the sentiment against the government as unemployment rises and the Depression is prolonged. The Dems will be voted out in 2010 and Obama in 2012. Conservatives can blame the economic diseaster on environmentalists, illegal immigration, lying MSM and big government advocates. Reset the country and we will open our wallets to fuel the recovery. It sounds like a plan, beats buying a gun and preparing to shoot the authorities that will get you killed or jailed. Government cannot force you to consume goods. Communists could not find a way to do that.
