So Michael Jackson's body was going to be returned to his ranch at Neverland, where it would lie in state in a glass coffin for his helplessly grieving fans to say their goodbyes. It would be borne there in a white 'fairyland' horse-drawn coach as sobbing crowds line the route. Then would come the bad-taste funeral to end all bad-taste funerals, an orgy of saccharine camp with yet more artificially whipped-up sentiment.

except this is not true. No Neverland funeral or burial.
"Take it out from orbit, there is no other way to be certain"
The only reason that it got halted is because they can’t bury him at Neverland according to law. They have to get it approved and can’t get that done in the time frame.
The orgy around MJ is amazing. At least it is putting quite a few people to work and helping the economy...except perhaps the State of California. However, they will be getting quite a bit on estate taxes to make up for it.
Everytime I see one of these kinds of articles I think of this song about MJ and media.

Jacko will join Elvis and Diana in pop heaven. And maybe Lennon. And Joplin. And, you know, River Phoenix. Jim Morrison and Belushi. Hendrix.
You know, Tex Ritter recorded a country music classic a long time ago. “I dreamed I was there in Hillbilly Heaven”. Ridiculous, trite, saccharin. That about sums up Jacko’s tributes.
“But he was also a sad little weirdo, possibly a child molester, and it would be wholly inappropriate to mourn his passing with too great a weight of solemnity.”
A quote from the author who mourns the disappearance of values. He also compares this circus with the funeral of Sir Winston Churchill, probably the greatest statesman, orator and person of the 20th Century to show just how low this generation has fallen.
Nothing personal against Princess Diana, but that frenzy just completely creeped me out.
I realize there is no comparison between the two, he was a Pedophile, she was a Princess, but the whole ritual seemed unhinged.
Even more so in this case.
Leave it to the Brits to tell it like it should be told. Jackson tried to live a fairy tale life which ended in a nightmare. Who’s to blame? Lots of people staring with his family who pushed him too early in life, to his agents who watched him degenerate into a pitiful example of a human being, to his fans who ate up his idiosyncratic behavior, to the media which glorified him to the end, to his doctors who enabled his various addictions. But in the end he alone is to blame because he, like Elvis and all the other tragic figures who couldn’t deal with wealth and fame, killed himself. I find it very hard to sympathize with someone who throws away this wonderful gift of life. And I will not mourn.

I guess all those people who made reservations near the ranch will be cancelling....LOL!
If California would bill the Jackson estate for all of the police, fire and EMS units being tied up by this circus, they’d have their budget problems solved in no time.
