Chavez threatens to invade Honduras, Obama says Honduras is on its own
Flopping Aces ^ | 07-03-09 | Alec Rawls

Never a word from the Obama regime about Venezuela's threat to invade Honduras and restore Chavez crony and fellow usurper Zelaya to power, but there is no lack of volume in Obama’s actions. Instead of facing Venezuela with a palm turned “stop,” Obama is pointedly walking away. AP headline: “U.S. halts military operations with Honduras to protest coup.”

This is not just some planned military exercise that has been cancelled. Honduras is a close military ally and a base of operations for the United States in Central America. We will continue to use our bases, but as of now, the Hondurans are on their own.

Obama knows better than anyone that the arrest of Zeyala was completely legal and was not a coup

When AP calls the military arrest of Zeyala a “coup,” they are just following Obama, but the Obama regime was fully informed all along of the details of Zeyala's attempted usurpation and fought vigorously to forstall his arrest:

The official, who spoke on the condition that he not be named, said the U.S. Embassy in Honduras was “consistently and almost constantly engaged in the last several weeks working with partners” and that U.S. officials were “in contact with all Honduran institutions, including the military.”

What were the Hondurans telling Obama? That the Honduran constitution REQUIRED the arrest of a president who tries to engineer a second term, and that it specifically empowers the Honduran Supreme Court to issue to the Honduran military an arrest warrant in such a case. Honduran Supreme Court justice Rosalinda Cruz describes how Zeyala had already started illegally shutting down checks and balances and how his arrest was immediately necessary to stop him from usurping the Honduran democracy:

We all know what’s driving this.

Obama laid down the law and Honduras acted in accordance with their constitution.

Obama is furious and will do anything to get even, even if that damages U. S. strategic standing.

This guy is a real son of a bitch.

If Honduras gets invaded, and Obama sits on his ass, he may end up with a little military coup of his own.

And if the media fails to cover this for what it is, it is high time we start labeling the media as an enemy of the United States, and start taking appropriate corrective actions.

"Paper Tiger Obama Osama"

Paper Tiger would presume that Obama is going to feign some kind of opposition to Chavez invading Honduras. I'm not so sure that Obama wouldn't help, at least with logistical support. And, I also wouldn't be surprised if Obama helped craft a UN resolution supporting what Chavez would do.

I used to think Obama was a socialist. Now, I'm fairly confident that he's a Marxist, just like his little buddy Hugo.

Just how is Chavez going to do this. He has a small navy with the the theoretical ability to land 10,000 forces, after quite a few trips back and forth to Venezuela. Just what is he going to do with his ships while being strafed by the Honduran Airforce?

After he gets to Honduras, just what is he going to do with the 80,000 member standing military and 1.3 million reserves?

And just what is Chavez going to do when he does land the surviving soldiers and they face of against 12 British Scorpion tanks, and artillery?

I guess he could tried to invade and cross most of Latin America to get there.

He'll build up in Nicaragua first (which he is already doing). They've already begun integrating as part of a joint Latin American "defense" force since last January.

In order to survive, it may be necessary to do a preemptive strike against their military. Technically, this will be an act of war on the part of the Hondurans, but since they've already got the US and UN against them they don't really have anything to lose.

Logically, they are too poor to win a traditional fight. Their best approach is the use of assassination teams to decapitate their opponents government, and perhaps the use of chemical weapons against enemy population centers as a tit-for-tat for any Honduran cities that suffer civilian casualties, since any traditional bombing approach would be outside their capability.

Honduras can win this war, but it will be very bloody unless they can get off a few early assassinations to end it prematurely or unless the coke fiends in charge of their oppressors back down.

Honduras may not do too badly on its own. While Venezuela strongly outguns Honduras, Venezuela is a long way away, and Chavez has been letting his armed forces go to seed, having the attention span of a drunken hummingbird.

This means a threat from Nicaragua would be more tangible. However, Nicaragua has no appreciable air force, so any attack force would have to be a ground force. But between Honduras’ F-5E fighters and its Cessna A-37 Dragonflies, any ground force would be shredded without air cover.

To mount a successful invasion of Honduras would therefore require not just the Venezuelans and the Nicaraguans, but likewise command and control from Cuba. And while Obama may be fine with that, I’m pretty sure that the US Navy would shoot first and ask permission later, even if a few ship’s Captains were relieved by his leftishness.

Remember that Jimmy Carter sold out both Nicaragua and Iran. Obama can be counted on for nothing, except to order the US military to not interfere. And the Democrats betrayed the US military in Vietnam, and betrayed the South Vietnamese to their enemies.

While the US military would not want to betray Honduras, and could not be ordered to do so, Obama stands with Zelaya, and Chavez, and Ortega, and Castro, not democracy and not freedom. When there is critical need, he will not help.

He may even give aid to Honduras’ enemies.
