I don’t agree with all of Dunn’s conclusions but all in all, a pretty good piece. I think she CAN win the nomination in 2012 if she wants it. I don’t believe the GOP will be dumb enough to nominate Romney. But then they did nominate McCain in 2008 so they may well be that dumb. We’ll see.

Sarah Palin: The Best is Yet to Come

Why not the best?

Sarah Palin is like Jimmy Carter? Maybe. In one respect.

As best I can remember, as governor of Georgia Carter met the movers and shakers of his Party and beyond.

As the VP candidate Gov. Palin met the movers and shakers of her Party and beyond.

Carter had a kind of epiphany. These guys are clowns, drunks, and reprobates. Hell, I'm going to run for president!

Did Gov. Palin discover the same?

My checkbook is open and ready to go. Seriously, there are thousands like me who will contribute in every conceivable way, should she go national.

“David Letterman. All excuses aside, the A-Rod joke was a transparent attempt at seeing if it was now safe to go after Willow, the rest of the Palin family having been run through the mill one after the other. It occurred at an awkward age for a girl, when events such as this can leave a serious mark.”

Basically, Letterman raped the 14 year old....

I will contribute to Palin as long as Mccain is no where around her.

Dunn has hit the nail. Palin really wants to be done with politics for as long as it takes. Maybe in 12 or 16 years or so, things will be different. But for now, she’s doing what’s right for her family, and, secondarily, for the people of her state. I think that’s really it.

So what does a woman do under such circumstances? A real woman, not a pol in a skirt. A wife and a mother, someone with a clear hierarchy of values. Why, she steps out.

I was flamed for saying it back when she first accepted VP, but I'm going to say it again:

IMHO, she should NOT have stepped-IN at the point that she did. She is a smart lady who has done very impressive things in her life. But, accepting the VP nomination when she had both a four-month-old baby and a teenaged daughter in a difficult situation at the same time was a bad move.

I am sickened by the treatment she and her family has received from the press, but I'm not at all surprised by it. I realize sometimes you have to take a chance and jump in, but I think she should've waited.

Instead of quitting as governor she could have postponed her book deal, made a decision to no longer travel outside of the state for the remainder of her term, and stopped reading the MSM.

If she ran for governor and got elected with the family she has, then she should be able to make it through 18 more months.

Then she could start writing books, going on book tours, and rallying the conservative troops.

To me, however anyone spins it, Sarah's resignation marks the end of her political life. She may be able to make it as a female Rush Limbaugh, but she'll never be able to make it as president ... or even as a senator.

The GOP swells who have gone after Palin should not imagine I will forget and support them like a marionette.

I don’t know what her future is but I know who I don’t want in mine. They miscalculated. They viewed her as a rival and struck to take the legs out from under her, they have sneered at her every time they took out their pen. But the things they sneer at are the things she has in common with me, and I take it personal.

If they wanted the support of ordinary conservative folk they ought to have courted her like they were courting a much better looking version of me.

I just ordered one of these bumper stickers for 99 cents, including shipping. It's at patriotdepot.com No, I'm not associated with the seller -- just seemed like a great deal, so I'm passing it along.
