Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor got a boost on Tuesday in what is expected to be a relatively easy road to Senate confirmation when an influential U.S. lawyer's group gave her its top rating.

The American Bar Association's Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary based its unanimous "well qualified" evaluation on a review of the integrity, competence and judicial temperament of Sotomayor, a federal judge for 17 years who seems headed to become the first Hispanic on the highest U.S. court.

"When the Judiciary Committee hearings to consider this nomination begin next week, Americans will hear from Judge Sotomayor herself, and I have the utmost confidence they will agree with the American Bar Association's review," said Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Patrick Leahy, a Democrat.

Sotomayor is expected to win confirmation by the full Democratic-led Senate, perhaps overwhelmingly, to replace David Souter, who recently retired. Her hearings begin on Monday....

He can go after Clarence Thomas again.
Or gitmo, or "torture", or whatever else happens to be the useful idiot flavor-of-the-day...

What were her grades? How did she get into Princeton in the first place? What was her major? The story with Ivy League schools (I have Ivy-eduated friends) is that the hardest part is getting in, they effectively give you a “B” for showing up, nearly 80% of students graduate with honors.

Why is she allowed to be a part of the Latino KKK and not be called on it? She is reversed nearly 70% of the time by higher courts...she is not qualified. She writes at a substandard level.

There is legal discrimination, it is white, heterosexual males. They have basically been told, “You are too successful, let’s allow others to artificially join your ranks, as those “others” would never achieve that on their own in numbers that move the needle.” The Left needs to ensure that race, sex, and gender are more of a factor for entrance, advancement or promotion than accomplishment. Sotomayor believes the philosophy that Communism and social justice (Marxism, Obama/Alinsky) is the way of the future.

I wonder if athletics would be as interesting or financially successful if quotas were enforced?

To feel good about themselves and ease their Liberal guilt-riddled hearts, they use discrimination to fight the same discrimination they claim to be against - nutty, isn’t it?

. . .when an influential U.S. lawyer's group gave her its top rating.

Obviously, this group doesn't rate judges based on how often their decisions are overturned by SCOTUS. Apparently, they are all about the "moving life story" and rulings based on "compassion" or whatever the current buzz word is.

The Senate Democrats rejected scores of unanimous “well-qualified” rated judges, so this is meaningless.

I can only tell you she was “Salutatorian” and/or “finished second” in her class at Princeton. Since we’re going to see her transcript about the same time we see Obama’s, I don’t foresee being able to dispute her academic credentials. BTW, Princeton is a tough grading school, actively combats grade inflation. Robert George teaches constitutional law (undergrad) there and is an extremely tough A.
