The thing about liberty is, is liberty applies to EVERYONE

I guess it doesn't apply to children who want to swim if they are the wrong color.

Oh my, someone has a twisted definition of liberty. Liberty does not mean you get to do whatever you want with someone else's stuff, that's communal ism.

I am amazed at the abject ignorance on display by poster's here. Liberty is defined as freedom from oppression. A private club cannot oppress anyone. They have no control over anyones lives other than those who choose to belong to the club. Others who are not members or denied membership to the club are not being oppressed in any way by not being allowed to use the clubs property. What absolute mental meagerness or utter ignorance by far too many is being displayed on this thread.

The children denied use of the facility have not had their liberty denied them at all, they are free to swim, just not at this clubs pool. Its not these kids property, its not these kids club, its not a publicly owned facility, its not a public business, its a private club. The club has absolute right to decide who it lets in and who gets to use its facilities based on whatever criteria it wants.

These kids have no more claim to use this pool than the homeless guy in your town has a claim to live in your house. Or the poor guy down the block has to your paycheck. Why there are so many here advocating communistic ideals is unfathomable. How bloody ignorant one must be to ignore the very fundamental tenants of a free society to blather such nonsense... and to do so on a site that claims to be a haven for conservatives shows exactly how dumbed down far too much of the US population has become.

Private property and freedom of association are fundamental rights. You don't like racists, that's your prerogative, you want to condemn them for it, that's your right. They however have every right to continue to restrict their membership and their facilities to whoever they choose. Your failure to recognize their right to do so speaks astounding volumes about how poorly American's understand their own nations history or principles.
