Todays meeting between President Barack Obama and Pope Benedict XVI will bring together two leaders who share a vision for helping the needy of the world and working toward peace, U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-3, said Thursday.
Obamas first meeting with the leader of the worlds 1 billion Roman Catholics follows the release of the encyclical Charity in Truth on Wednesday, in which Benedict stated that love of neighbor and justice require the wealthy and powerful nations of the world to help the poor, seek peace and protect the Earth.
He presents a challenge to all political leaders, DeLauro said of the pope, during a conference call sponsored by the group Catholic Democrats. She quoted the popes statement in his encyclical: Thus every economic decision has a moral consequence.
I believe that President Obama believes strongly in the same principles, said DeLauro, who was joined in the conference call by U.S. Rep. James McGovern, D-Mass., and Patrick Whalen, president of Catholic Democrats.
DeLauro also noted Obama is willing to speak out on difficult issues, and has done so in speeches about race, abortion and relations with the Muslim world.
I think hes a man with a mission, McGovern said of Obama. I believe that he really wants to change things and I think this pope, with the encyclical that he has issued, has put forth a framework not only for the United States to follow but for the world to follow.
McGovern said the summit will provide, quite frankly, the political cover in some cases to deal with difficult issues such as the Middle East, hunger and poverty.
What the meeting is about in my view is about building relationships, DeLauro said.

So, let's recap and see if we have this straight: the Pope has no right to tell Catholic politicians who funnel millions of dollars of tax-payer money into the slaughter of innocent, unborn children that they're wrong; but they have every right to tell the Pope that he's wrong because he hasn't condemned Nazism again this week. Yeahsureright!
I don't know about you, but this business of telling the Pope how to do his job is getting a bit worn on me. Ms. DeLauro and her aliance of the concerned would probably tell me that the Pope shouldn't tell her how to do her job, either. The problem is, he's not. He's telling her how to be a good Catholicsomething in which she has, obviously, never been interested.

The above is a political statement.
A staement of fact is the Pope has shown leadership in over seeing the Catholic Religion. Obamais an elected official who has shown ZERO leadership ability up to this point. Nothing in Obamashistroy shows any regard for helping the needy including needy familymembers.

Yes Mr.McGovern he is. But the mission of turning the United States into a 3rd world Nation destroying the US Constitution and the American way of life are not a good mission to most of us........
BO’s idea of world peace is a one world order in which no one questions him.
