And that was a flagrant violation of a truce, during which the leader of the pirates was in custody.
Effective, yes. Immoral, also yes.

If you think there was ANYTHING immoral about what our SEAL snipers did, then you and I, sir, have a problem. You have and honor truces with nations, militaries, even identifiable bands of “insurgents” if they wear uniforms and respect the laws of war (ie don’t target and/or hide behind civilians).

You do not have a truce with gun totting hostage holding pirate scum except as a ploy, and you certainly have NO moral obligation whatsoever to honor such a truce!
