L'AQUILA, Italy (Reuters) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev warned the United States Friday that if it did not reach agreement with Russia on plans for missile defense systems, Moscow would deploy rockets in an enclave near Poland.
In sharp contrast to his positive words during President Barack Obama's visit to Moscow earlier this week when the two reached broad agreement on nuclear arms cuts, Medvedev used a news conference at the G8 summit to return to Russia's earlier tough rhetoric on arms control.
Medvedev also appeared to change his tone on the missile defense shield itself.
During Obama's visit he told the U.S. leader, using markedly softer language than normal, that "no one is saying that missile defense is harmful in itself or that it poses a threat to someone."
But at the Group of Eight rich nations summit in Italy on Friday, Medvedev returned to a traditional posture on the system, describing it as "harmful" and "threatening to Russia."

Appears as if Obama is getting played like a fish on a line. He took the bait and now the Ruskies will real him in.

It just shows what happens when you put a weak, back-alley, America-hating thug in the White House — it is immediately recognized and taken advantage of. The world is laughing at America now...watching its strength be torn apart by a bunch of power-mad pinko thugs....Putin and Medvedev are tipping a few vodkas over this windfall success for all of America’s enemies.
So? The missile shield would be ineffective against a Russian ICBM attack as it is. Russia could glass most of Europe right now. All that would do is cut the flight time by 25 minutes or so.
Go for it, Putin (Medy is just a sock puppet). Waste more Russian resources of what is really just a symbolic move. BTW, what’s that I see behind you? India and China? Don’t mind them...

I thought Yalta II was settled with trading SDI for a Russian “promise” to work on not letting Iran get the A-Bomb they already have. Which is like trading Derek Jeter for a bag of balls.

None of this will be noticed by the distracted American public or even matter to them, until missiles come raining down on their heads. Then the survivors will play the blame game.
