TAMPA - The Club for Growth, a conservative political committee known for spending big bucks in Republican primaries, is still interested in Marco Rubio's challenge to Charlie Crist but wary of his lack of fundraising success so far, its director said.

"It's less than what we'd been hearing would be announced," executive director David Keating said.

He said the group will still be watching the Republican primary race for the U.S. Senate and considering whether to intervene to support Rubio.

CFG’s backing could accelerate the process of making Crist’s coronation a “sure thing.”

The guy can raise a dime so they are going to hold their endorsement until he can and then once he gets some money than you will endorse? Am I reading this right???? It does not make sense to me. Perhaps with your endorsement, he will make some money.

This spells trouble....I ran into the same situation for Richard Ziser running against Harry Reid last time around....got Steven Moore & Ziser in a sitdown but lack of fundraising success (read lack of Republican Party support; especially national/DC hacks) sunk Zizer’s bid & did not result in the Club’s financial backing.

Ziser was what every Freeper dreams of in a candidate....

Crists’s support is a mile wide and an inch deep.
He has name recognition but is a RINO turd.
Marco Rubio has an uphill battle. He needs to get his name out there. Make some attacks on Crist taking fed funds like a fool.
Sort of surprised Jeb Bush didn’t enter the Senate race.

Ugh. I can’t believe this. Democrats are running wild, RINO’S still prosper ergo the CFG hesitates on supporting Rubio? Are they stupid or politicians, or did I repeat myself? How dumb can they be?!

I would assume they want to use their funds wisely, and only for candidates that have a real chance. Maybe Rubio can still get their support.
