This is the letter I just sent off to the editor of the Vancouver Sun.

Dear Patricia Graham - Editor-in-Chief, Vancouver Sun:

I thought that in Journalism 101, Mr. Chris Parry would have learned that if you can't be bothered to get the small facts right (such as the correct spelling of the names of your antagonists) then the rest of your reporting is automatically suspect as well.

Apparently Mr. Parry also forgot that another good rule of journalism is to actually try to interview the people you are covering but it appears he couldn't be bothered to interview Jim Robinson (not Jim Thompson) or Kristinn Taylor (not Kristin N.) about their operating philosophy, how abuse buttons work and who responds to them, or how they moderate or don't moderate threads from day to day. If he did try to do so, he should have put a comment "reporter attempted to contact so-and-so for a response but requests were not returned before press time" but somehow I doubt he interviewed face to face, over the phone or via email exchange with a single soul before writing this tripe.

I also do not recall your paper writing a similar article about Democratic Underground or the Daily Kos exposing the daily vitriol, redneck jokes, knocked up jokes, etc. they spew about Gov.Sarah Palin and her children, who are the same age and younger than Pres. Obama's children.

If this is what passes for good journalism in Canada these days, then your paper (and Canada) are doomed.

Sincerely,

Tamar1973 on Free Republic

Yes, good job! Thanks.

You've documented some real problems in the MSM.

I have said for years, many of today's MSM employees are skid marks on Journalism's shorts.

This is a lazy piece of journalism (as are many of the articles written about internet sites, blogs, etc.) They just cut and paste quotes from the site and string them along to tell whatever story they want to tell without ever interviewing a single soul directly about the site. I can't believe the Vancouver Sunactually paid this guy to write this article.

The 1960s Marxist-Alinsky hippie street rabble-cum-Rat Party (formerly the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party) and their ideological issue (children) will be a swarmin' FR threads.

(BTW, 1960s Marxist-Alinsky hippie street rabble-cum-Rat Party ain't name calling. The Marxist-Alinsky hippie street rabble took over the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party in the 1970s.)

For example, a search for "I hate blacks" gets hits on FR.

Yes, an article in San Francisco's AsianWeek by Kenneth Eng called ""Why I Hate Blacks" was discussed here.

The sharpies at Bill O'Reilly failed to realize that "I hate blacks" is just a string of characters, you have to actually view the search results; to wit, "Why I Hate Blacks" is the title of a column being discussed on FR and many other sites, BTW, including TV reports.

Unless I am misremembering, the above is fact.

The point is, expect a lot of this kind of BORing stuff.

Lazy journalism on a weekend?

The easy button comes to mind.

Seems the worst things said at FR can be published in a newspaper. They would have a tough time doing that from the leftist sites.
And that is due to the Mods - who in turn are due to one Jim Robinson.
