I find the timing of all this suspicious.

Obama's numbers are sinking and some of his followers, hurting, are beginning to question their choice.

So, we see a fresh-baked campaign beginning against Bush-Cheney and key Adm players to roast them, embarrass them, to perhaps accomplish nothing but dangle the specter of impropriety, deflecting attention away from their own failures, and it may well drag on and on in hearings. This will rally his flock, the hardcore leftists, and I suppose the hope is that others will fall in line on their witch hunt. Meanwhile they calculate many will ignore--or temporarily forget--the economy and its descent into new depths. That is desperation if I'm reading this right.

Now we see a more generalized attack on Conservatives positions online; talk radio will be similarly engaged soon, I think, as they further seek evil Conservative hobgoblins to chase around for awhile. This ultimately is not only about distraction but demoralizing political opposition through intimation and false charges-- it's frankly an attempt to kill debate, both in the public arena and in Congress. They must get these bills through that few Americans actually support when they grasp the consequences and can't have legislators reading those damn bills they're voting on.

I'd rather talk about the Obama economy and unilateral disarmament myself.
