Maddow Says Opposition to Sotomayor “Is Substantially about Race”
NewsReal Blog ^ | July 13, 2009 | John Perazzo

On her most recent program, leftist MSNBC host Rachel Maddow summed up all conservative and Republican opposition to Sonia Sotomayor’s nomination for Supreme Court Justice as nothing more than a “campaign” that “is substantially about race.” “Thus far,” Maddow sneered, “Republicans have attacked [Sotomayor's] ‘Wise Latina’ comment, they have called her an affirmative action nominee, [and] they have singled out her ruling in an affirmative-action discrimination case.” And for good measure, added Maddow, “[t]hey have chosen to inveigh against [Sotomayor's] work for the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund.”

This is getting to be a broken record. Left’s only talking point

Yet, it's effective.

La Raza’s motto.

For the race - Everything. For those not of the race - Nothing.

“Por La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada”

Yep I don’t want a racist on the Supreme Court. Sotomayor fancies herself as a wise Latina who can do a better job than white guys just because she us Hispanic
Sotomayor tried to bury her Ricci decision

She is known as a reverse racist who discriminates against white firefighters (Ricci)

well, i’m just going to have to disagree with Miss Rachel Maddow right here and now. Obviously she has not listened to even a teence of the beginning of this hearing and confirmation process, oh, excuse me Rachel are you using selective hearing? I think so.
Look at what Lindsay Graham had to say or Orrin Hatch or John Cornyn said - look at what Chuck Schumer had to say about her and his effusiveness(barf) It’s all fair in love and war this time. Everyone gets to say their piece
Rachel you’re a narrowminded loser and if you didn’t have a wife you’d still be a narrowminded loser and spinster

THE ENTIRE LEFT IS GETTING TO BE A BROKEN RECORD, especially when one picks up the NYSlimes and see yet another SECRET program leaked to their "NEWS"paper. Why Bush didn't put Pinkie in the slammer is beyond me. Espionage Act would have worked.

Somebody needs to edumacate this Rachel Maddow idiot. Being hispanic is not a race; it’s an ethnic identity. I am a caucasian Puerto Rican. There are black Puerto Ricans in my family tree, as there are white Spaniards and Portuguese. Somewhere along the line there might be some native blood as well. This “La Raza” thing is nothing more than a catchy name for “Los Racistas”, because that’s what they are — race baiting poverty pimps.

In all fairness, if there is such a thing, I think the founders of “La Raza” were making reference to native peoples of Central and South America.

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow suffers big audience loss

Even though this article is in the bankrupt, left-leaning Baltimore Sun, the comments section is overwhelmingly critical of Maddow, according to many of the posts for her obscene put-downs of the Tea Parties.

Well, yeah, I guess you could say that. It’s about Sotomayor’s racism.

I guess Madcow is typical of lib thinkers: it is they who cannot get beyond race. A women, who appears to be of European origin, is selected to be a SC justice. She claims because of her ethnic background, Puerto Rican/southern European (Spain), that she is better qualifed to be a justice than some other white person of northern European origin. Conservatives called that a racist statement (it’s actually stupid rather than racist), but naturally libs accuse conservatives of being racist. You can’t dream up a more absurd analogy. Madcow’s comments are straight out of the Bizarro World of “thought”.

I have to say I loved watching her face during the first part. It is not pretty hearing the truth told you where you can’t escape it. Then the hispanic yelling in the background about abortion of hispanic babies.

I know you are, Racheal, but what am I?

That’s the only level they understand.

I’d be curious to know if they have any evidence of this “racism” that’s as substantial as the evidence of racism against Miguel Estrada (”especially problematic as he’s a Latino”).

Until they come up with that, it’s just more blathering.

Just like opposition to a Justice Sharpton would be about race too. If it weren't for "race" Sharpton wouldn't exist.

I just sent an email to rachel@msnbc.com educating her on the so-called hispanic race.

“Dear Rachel — you are severely misinformed. Being a ‘latina’ or ‘hispanic’ isn’t a race designation. Go look it up. From everything I see, Sotomayor is a caucasian ‘newyorrican’. The operative word is caucasian, unless you’ve invented another race.”

re: “campaign” that “is substantially about race.”

The Left is always accusing the Right of resorting to code words. But as always, it’s a case of the coming up with a word or term that sounds bad when they accuse their opposition of doing it, but the do exactly the same thing themselves and call is something different.

In this case, the term is racist, and it’s a code word when used by them, code for “minorities can do no wrong.” For instance, to put a white boy in jail for 20 years for drugs is law and order, but to put a black man in jail for the same crime and the same sentence and it’s racist. It’s a great tactic, it works at all levels from expelling a minority kid for being disruptive in class to killing a person for their watch or jacket.

I know, I know. Capt. Obvious again.
