She could make like Ronaldus Maximus 1976-1980. A lot of support for Republican candidates, and leading the charge on a signature issue, as did Reagan on the Panama Canal Treaty.

There is no shortage of threats to our economy. America's unemployment rate recently hit its highest mark in more than 25 years and is expected to continue climbing. Worries are widespread that even when the economy finally rebounds, the recovery won't bring jobs. Our nation's debt is unsustainable, and the federal government's reach into the private sector is unprecedented.
Unfortunately, many in the national media would rather focus on the personality-driven political gossip of the day than on the gravity of these challenges. So, at risk of disappointing the chattering class, let me make clear what is foremost on my mind and where my focus will be:
I am deeply concerned about President Obama's cap-and-trade energy plan, and I believe it is an enormous threat to our economy. It would undermine our recovery over the short term and would inflict permanent damage.

You go girl!
Sarah just made Obama crap his pants in this piece she wrote
Best line in her op-ed:
“The ironic beauty in this plan? Soon, even the most ardent liberal will understand supply-side economics.”
Go Sarah!!
She did the right thing. She can attack and raise money. Our side will need to probably raise $400 million in 2012 to run.
She and others need to push hard that cao & tax will be INFLATIONARY - Big time! Granny’s electric bill will go up and it will filter through the economy on every good and service.
HAHA NICE!! Sarah hit that one out of the park
Sarah in the Light...
That’s neat to see. I hope Mrs. Palin will do more of this.
That was terrific!
I’m shocked the Washington Compost posted this.
This is the path that Reagan took while he was in the wilderness: op-eds, radio spots and speeches.
I expect Sarah to become involved in every area as well as well as been on TV a lot.
Excellent!
“Many states have abundant coal, whose technology is continuously making it into a cleaner energy source. Westerners literally sit on mountains of oil and gas, and every state can consider the possibility of nuclear energy.”
...and she will be in each of them very soon...
LOL. Has Sarah been hanging out with Ann Coulter?
What does that mean? Just curious..
LOL. Has Sarah been hanging out with Ann Coulter?
God I hope so. I think a little bit of Ann has been rubbing off on Sarah. Love the sarcasm coming from Sarah. I can’t wait til she is unleashed. She isn’t even unleashed yet and she is smacking Obama left and right. Imagine what happens after July 26th, Obama will have to find a bunker to hide in
LOL....
I love this woman!
Go ahead Sarah, disappoint the chattering classes and the libs all you want.
She can write in plain English!
Who knew that this well dressed in fraudently purchased clothed Alaskan bimbo, who is claiming that she is the mother of her daughter’s child, who skins moose while riding on the tail end of a stupid snowmobile, after sole-handedly vandalizing the state coffers of Alaska, could write in english!
Right, and tax and regress is a very unpopular policy that is a good one for her first shot.
Could it be any sweeter than that the big opening salvo is courtesy of WaPo?
Nope. Its awesome. Can’t wait to see what is next.
and so it begins.
As in, the race is on,
The game is afoot
Nice job.
Yeah, I was shocked that the Washington Compost(As my man Mark Levin calls them) would even have any contact with Sarah Palin
I don't know if Palin penned this, or the Washington Post.
If it was Sarah, any speculation about her leaving the Republican party has been refuted.
Does she have the power/clout to clean up the republican party and make them worth voting for again?
Energy IS a winning issue if framed the correct way. Compare the vast amounts of cheap affordable energy via oil, natural gas and nuclear versus the high cost of “windmills and sunshine”. It’s so easy to paint liberal as idealistic hippies not connected with reality when you say their ideas of energy are “windmills and sunshine”.
Ditto.

The first shot has been fired over the bow of the SS Obama.
Its sweet to see this opening policy statement appearing in the Washington Post.
You Go Girl!
It means all the leftdolts, LSM hacks, and MittBots were dead wrong and are about to get a year long smackdown.
Can Mr. Momma Bear poster please drop his image here? TIA!
They are still in business to make a profit — and nothing sells papers more than a good cat fight.
“We have an important choice to make. Do we want to control our energy supply and its environmental impact? Or, do we want to outsource it to China, Russia and Saudi Arabia? Make no mistake: President Obama’s plan will result in the latter.”
This is a very good point. Its the second weakest argument of Cap and Trade. Without agreements across the world, some countries will be better off, some will be worse off, and under Obama’s plan, the US will fall into the latter category. It’s a another transfer of wealth.
The weakest argument of course is that its not proven at all that global warming is man made.
So, there’s a game or a race beginning? Okay.
Thanks.
Yup. One big difference, though: At this stage, even Ronaldus Magnus didn’t have the national support and exposure that Gov. Palin has...
Money collection talks, I just made another donation to Sarah Pac.. trust me THAT gets the attention of the GOP more than anything.
Yes, we can. Just not with Barack Obama’s energy cap-and-tax plan.
“The weakest argument of course is that its not proven at all that global warming is man made.”
Er, meant to add that its not even proven that it is even occurring at the moment.
????? Check the byline: “By Sarah Palin.”
Oh, I think she did pretty well with that during the campaign. But it’s great to see some print work coming from her, and it’s good to see she’s not timid about it. I’d like to see one of these columns from Sarah about once a month or so, as long as they remain thoughtful and well-written, like this one.
FRegards,
LH
I am going to savour every line of her article. What I did read looked great. Let me guess, the media will a, not mention it b, say she didn’t write it c, ah, who cares what they say this made my night!
You make an interesting point. Sarah goes after the second most vulnerable point of cap-in-trade without challenging the premise of it in the first place.
She takes cap-and-trade apart without opening herself to the accusation of not attuned to global warming.
I think that argument will eventually come, but she may not be as prepared as she would like to be to make that argument now.
Curious that she completely avoided the main reason to opposes this abominable legislation; it’s based on a hoax. Not a good sign, in my opinion. You can’t implicitly concede a clear fallacy as fact, and then win an argument on how to approach a non-existent problem by talking about other issues.
This article is now posted on her facebook page. This was scheduled for release tomorrow but the Washington Post posted it tonight. Best article Sarah has written yet, absolutely BRILLIANT. If the GOP throws her under the bus and wants nothing to do with her, then I am done with the GOP, screw them. I will follow Sarah Palin any day, she is EXACTLY what we need. Absolutely NO fear in calling out the libs
Geez she just took Obama to school and your still not satisfied. Give her some damn credit
