Kids, proficient in an ancient protocol like IRC? I’m not seeing it. Started 13 years ago and there were more young folks then, but these days IRC is mostly the same folks who were around back then, and very little new blood.

Even the new blood there is tends to be folks my age or OLDER who drop in for help with their computer and stay for the atmosphere.

I started chatting in 1996 in a room called 50+ Terrace in WBS (I forgot what WBS stood for) The room was highly censored by the moderators and innocent words came out as ***. For example I was once taking about a screw like these

and it came out as ****

Kiddies are texting/sexting, not hanging out in chat rooms with us old folks. If you see a 15 year old girl on a chat room, she is most likely (Chris) Hansen-bait.
