We did that just last month...the south-to-north road that meandered through the National Park. I kept thinking, "Lord, get me out of these damn mountains". I guess, in that part of the country, guardrails haven't been invented yet.
LOL. I see that I’m not alone after all. That’s the route that I had driven through them to take our vehicle and meet my husband at a job site in North Carolina
A bunch of ladies from a tour bus were at a rest stop where I asked in an exasperated voice, “How much longer before I get out of these mountains?” They looked at me as though I’d lost my mind. I guess they couldn’t imagine anyone not enjoying being there. I enjoyed it for a while, but that had ended well before I stopped at the rest stop.
My husband was driving when we came back through there, so it wasn’t as bad. He loves the mountains.
As I said, I loved the Rockies, but I was fascinated by the rock. Lots of trees in the Smokies, but they were full of fall colors when we came back through them, and they were beautiful. I’d just rather enjoy the mountains on screen, I think.
