The GOP really needs to clean house of the adulterers, homosexuals, crooks, and drunks. How can the Republicans claim to be a “family values” party when we have such hypocrites as Ensign and Sanford? Yes, the Democrats have plenty of slimy characters - Edwards, Jefferson, Clinton, and Frank come to mind immediately - but they don’t claim to be moral exemplars in the first place. Like it or not, Republicans must be like Caesar’s wife, above reproach.

Good points.....Ensign needs to go now. I think some on here do not understand that the Dems will trash Ensign to all get up.....Ensign will not win.

Because family values are such a big issue with the GOP voters....not with the fiscal liberals...Ensign is toast. Too many will stay home election day if he is the nomination.

The GOP needs a good political cleansing....immediately. It is filled with liberals and hypocrites

Well, since the odds are they will not become above reproach, they should try to be less hypocritical.

Not a relief. The exact opposite. If he resigned, a Conservative would have ran in his place and most likely won. Now this seat may be another one down the drain. He has a lot of explaining to do to the voters. Perhaps he can pull it off, but its going to drain resources that the GOP could have spent elsewhere.
