Heres a quick quiz: Who said the following?
"A cap-and-trade policy will send a signal that will be heard and welcomed all across the American economy, and the highest rewards will go to those who make the smartest, safest, most responsible choices."
President Obama? Henry Waxman? Nancy Pelosi?
Actually, that was candidate John McCain, way back in May of 2008. Which is all the more interesting given former running mate Sarah Palins anti-cap-and-trade op-ed in todays Washington Post. In her opinion piece, Palin berated Obama for creating a job-kiling cap-and-tax dead end, despite having run on a ticket that mostly supported similar policy goals.
But her running mate -- McCain -- was an ardent supporter of cap-and-trade legislation during his run for the presidency. He distinguished himself during the Republican primary as a candidate who took climate change seriously and openly criticized the Bush administrations lukewarm stance on the issue.
Dont count on him to automatically line up behind Obama, however. Earlier in the year, McCain had some harsh words of his own for the presidents plan, calling it a giant government slush fund that will further burden our businesses and consumers.
I still believe that it is the time to address this critical international issue, but my vision for a cap-and-trade system is as a mechanism to lower greenhouse gases in our atmosphere, not as a revenue generator for the federal government, said McCain.

to be fair, I am opposed to Cap-n-kill, McCain was in favor of eliminating the payroll tax as an offset.
McCain is nuts.
Should we be surprised? McCain is also the biggest supporter of illegal alien amnesty...and other liberal doings?
And do not forget he has been funded by George Soros for years.
Sad that the 2008 GOP nomination was wasted on this liberal
Palin berated Obama for creating a job-kiling cap-and-tax dead end, despite having run on a ticket that mostly supported similar policy goals.
Ohhhhhhhhh, that’s the point of the story on Juan Mccain...
McCain: Supports some version of cap-and-tax (who ever thought differently?)
Palin: NOT for cap-and-tax.
By the way, MSNBC, have you noticed which candidate is actually VIABLE in the next election?
McCain is running for reelection in 2010. He was the only top tier candidate of either party who didn’t win his/her home state by at least 50%. A strong conservative challenger to McCain would beat him in the primary. Hence, McCain is now backtracking on cap and trade. Look for him to figure a way not to support amnesty, at least prior to the election in 2010.
>>> McCain is running for reelection in 2010. <<<<
When the time is near I’ll happily send campaign money to his opponents.
The good people of Arizona need to vote McLame OUT in 2010.
IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO THE CHALLENGER IS.
You quit if the job is above you.
In contrast. you resign if the job is below you.

The 999 o’s above represent the amount of nitrogen, oxygen, and argon found in the atmosphere. The x (dare you to find it) represents more than twice the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
