I can’t understand how a tanker would hit an overpass. Most gasoline tankers are under 12 feet tall and all overpasses, unless marked otherwise, are supposed to be 13 ft 6 inches.

You kidding? How about losing control going under, impacting the side of the tunnel entrance causing a massive leak and explosion?

Happens all the time.

I meant upper clearance height not side to side. I have NEVER seen a tanker hit an overpass height wise. Unless of course, the bridge is below the limit and the driver should have known better.
