LEAVENWORTH, Wash. (AP) -- The Washington State Patrol says actor James Caviezel suffered cuts and bruises when a man hurled a bicycle into the path of his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Trooper Rich Magnussen says ''The Passion of the Christ'' actor was taken Thursday to Cascade Medical Center in Leavenworth.

That's a shame. A quad is, no doubt, very safe as long as you're easy on the throttle, which is easier said than done. It's just that little things with powerful motors are so much fun, it's easy for the adrenaline to take over.

He was probably busting it hard down the trail when he lost control. It's just too much fun. I remember how hard I rode my snowmobile. Way too hard, but got spared serious injury for some reason. Just a bloody lip or a headache here and there. When I think back, I realize I was borderline out-of-control crazy on that thing. Blasting down a singletrack with my friends though the woods in the middle of the night, North Maine Woods, temps below zero, crisp air, the moon and milky way overhead. Too much adrenaline, too much fun.

In the mid-1980's, it seems so forever ago now. Time flies. Can't believe so much time has passed.

And “Frequency” along side Dennis Quaid. I love the father-son bond in that film.

(Miss you Dad)

The trooper says he doesn't know why the actor was in the area about 14 miles southeast of this city in north-central Washington.

Because he chose to ride his bike there, you ignorant pig. It still is a free country.

Actually, it appeared that the father was crossing a ditch or canal when the quad flipped over and landed on him. It’s just one of those things, but I felt bad for the family.

Sounds like the Lord was being very merciful in keeping you from killing yourself.

Yes, when you’re young you don’t think about the consequences. It’s just fun to go out and fly like the wind. I recall telling my parents stories years later about some of the things my friends and I did(from crashing into parked vehicles to crashing into neighbors homes while the people were in the house!). On one occasion, a relative almost ran me over after I came racing out of a side street onto the main. The look on both our faces were priceless, I’m sure. My relative had no idea I was in his neighborhood. My uncle never told my parents about the incident.

Had my mom and dad known at the time, I wouldn’t be alive today. :) I’m grateful that the good Lord watched over me.

I’m so sorry about your cousin. I’ll keep him in my prayers for a full recovery. I’ll also keep you, your husband and the rest of the family in my prayers too.

Don't forget, he was struck by lighting on the crucifix while filming “the Passion”

Well, lots of folks are struck by lighting on movie sets, but this one got hit by lightning, too!

This is America, and you can do what you like. Having said that I just lost a friend to a motorcycle wreck. Not even his fault. Driver crossed the line on a two lane. Head on, he flew 40 yards past the car, breaking his neck and killing him instantly on impact. His wife was on board, too. She suffered 2 broken legs and a shattered pelvis. They have 2 teenaged kids. He was a good guy and a 17 year law enforcement vet. His loss has left a open wound in our agency. I understand life itself is intrinsically dangerous, but some things people do I never will understand.

Thank you for your prayers.

I just found out yesterday and have been too stunned to do more than prayers of gratitude that he’s not dead or brain-damaged.

(I’ve found the usefulness of the prayer lists years ago. Sometimes you’re too close to the situation to even *think* of a good prayer. Sometimes it’s hard to pray because you can’t face the enormity of a situation - your emotions are too powerful and your mind just wants to push it all away. That’s when it’s good to call in a “team”. They’ve got the distance to be able to offer prayers on your behalf.)

No kidding. He must have been a liberal.

Probably not in Wenatchee. More likely he was just a drugged-out loser.... though what he was doing in Leavenworth on a bike is an interesting question.

FWIW, Leavenworth is about 25 miles from Wenatchee. It's got a strict "Bavarian" theme, backed by city ordinance. They call themselves the "Bavarian Village."

The town is a tourist trap, catering primarily to the Western Washington crowd. I grew up nearby ... we used to call it the Barbarian Village. And with great glee I can report that our HS sports teams routinely trounced them.
