I was just telling my family how much fun motorcycling is, but that it is very dangerous.

Back in the day, I rode on/off road. Once crashed and suffered a knee injury. I wasn’t even traveling at a high speed, but it took the knee decades before there was a full recovery. Grant it, I didn’t go through physical therapy when I should have, and I neglected to baby the knee, but nonetheless.......

A friend of mine got into a nasty wreck a few months back. Messed himself up pretty good. Lost a finger, messed up a shoulder and a lung.

Most of my family and friends that ride haven’t experienced life threatening accidents, but the risk is there—every time you ride.

I know about those joint injuries. For some of us they take forever to heal. Whether it’s a sprained ankle, or bashed my knee on a rock wiping out mountain biking, I can expect it to take about five years for it to stop hurting. And the older you get, the more careful you get, because the life God gives us goes by faster and faster, and becomes more precious, and may we appreciate the time we’ve been given even more, because it ain’t gonna last forever.
