O'S BROKEN PROMISES: HEALTH BILLS V. PREZ'S WORDS
NY Post ^ | July 17, 2009 | Betsy McCaughey

PRESIDENT Obama promises that "if you like your health plan, you can keep it," even after he reforms our health-care system. That's untrue. The bills now before Congress would force you to switch to a managed-care plan with limits on your access to specialists and tests.

Two main bills are being rushed through Congress with the goal of combining them into a finished product by August. Under either, a new government bureaucracy will select health plans that it considers in your best interest, and you will have to enroll in one of these "qualified plans." If you now get your plan through work, your employer has a five-year "grace period" to switch you into a qualified plan. If you buy your own insurance, you'll have less time.

And as soon as anything changes in your contract -- such as a change in copays or deductibles, which many insurers change every year -- you'll have to move into a qualified plan instead (House bill, p. 16-17).

When you file your taxes, if you can't prove to the IRS that you are in a qualified plan, you'll be fined thousands of dollars -- as much as the average cost of a health plan for your family size -- and then automatically enrolled in a randomly selected plan (House bill, p. 167-168).

It's one thing to require that people getting government assistance tolerate managed care, but the legislation limits you to a managed-care plan even if you and your employer are footing the bill (Senate bill, p. 57-58). The goal is to reduce everyone's consumption of health care and to ensure that people have the same health-care experience, regardless of ability to pay.

“The goal is to reduce everyone’s consumption of health care and to ensure that people have the same health-care experience, regardless of ability to pay.”

Listen to obama’s 2001 WBEZ Chicago public radio “Redistributive Change” interview.

For all of our fine GOP politicians who are too chicken to define obama as the Marxist he is:

Thank you for this post.

The article is excellent in that just a few of the worst provisions of this bill are listed in it - by page number of the bill. (There are 2 versions going through Congress - BOTH draconian and disastrous).

MY CHALLENGE TO EVERY CONCERNED FREEPER IS TO DO ONE THING TODAY TO GET THIS INFORMATION OUT TO PEOPLE WHO DON’T READ FREE REPUBLIC.

These bills must not pass!

Share this info now with your friends, family and neighbors! Write your Congressmen and -women! As this could only begin to be reversed later (under another administration) with tremendous difficulty, this must not pass!

One sixth of the economy going down the drain like this is enough to sink the ship if it goes in the wrong direction, is at stake! The accumulated tax burden envisioned to pay for this will not materialize in tomorrow's economy, so limitations on care will have to be greatly increased, meaning severe rationing.

End of life could mean going to a figurative mean grinder, getting little to no care beyond pain killers compared to the finest medical system the world has to offer at present.

Glad you liked the post. For once, the folks need to inform themselves about the details of a piece of legislation that will seriously impact their lives, without exaggeration.

I guess those were three “bumps” to important FACTS that need to be spread to as many as possible today by all concerned FReepers.

And, while we are at it, pray!

"The goal is to ... ensure that people have the same health-care experience, regardless of ability to pay."

Well, almost everybody. Think lard-ass Ted Kennedy will have any problem being treated for his brain cancer, despite his advanced age?

If this plan doesn't apply to EVERYBODY, INCLUDING THE PRESIDENT AND OTHER WASHINGTON BLOODSUCKERS, nobody should be forced into it.

I suggest that when you call your congresscritters, ask them if THEY will be bound to this plan, along with the rest of us.

The talk show host who really delved into these awfull bills was Laura Ingraham...The House bill is over 1000 pages,

Conservative candidates for House seats should be railing against these toxic concotions NOW. The problem is too many of them are just getting organized and some are thinking “wait till next year” which is why the socialists feel they can shove this through now.

Here are some quips FRs can use to bring this thing down

Everyone except Congress and the President.

They are of course too important to let die sitting in some clinic next to us peons.

Is there anything in the bill to force doctors to continue doctoring?

NOPROOF Obama is a pathological liar. Whatever he says, you can be 100% certain that the truth lies in the opposite direction - with the exception of raising Taxes. He told the truth on that one, and then some.

One troubling provision of the House bill compels seniors to submit to a counseling session every five years (and more often if they become sick or go into a nursing home) about alternatives for end-of-life care (House bill, p. 425-430). The sessions cover highly sensitive matters such as whether to receive antibiotics and "the use of artificially administered nutrition and hydration."

Does this apply to Michelle's mother as well?

"I'll have the care she's getting".

I cannot find any provision in the proposed bill that says if you do not enroll in a qualified plan that you will be “automatically enrolled in a randomly selected plan”

Other than that, it is a fine article.

First I read of this. Within 5-years, everyone will be on a government-qualified plan. Wow!

In other words, the seniors are being encourage to gracefully die, without any medical treatment. Soon, there will not be any counseling sessions, a money-counting bureaucrat will make the mandatory decision for you, to die without any medical treatment.

Well, you must admit he lied about HOW he would raise them and WHO would be affected (nobody making less than $250,000). One of his first moves was a hefty increase in the very regressive cigarette tax.
