Obama is set to give a speech at 3:15 on healthcare, as fears mount that the bill may already be dead.
Yesterday's (not too shocking) revelation from the CBO, that the bill would end up costing the government, not saving it money, seems to have really demoralized dems, who had been arguing that fiscal prudence and expanded coverage could go hand in hand.
Then today, Rasmussen came out with a poll suggesting that the majority of the public opposed the creation of a public plan.
Remember, Obama's job is to convinced Democrats the new scheme is a good one. They have the votes to do it. Problem is, they also have to run for office.

I’ve called all my DC elected reps today to push back on Obamacare and Sotomayor. As usual, Rep Schwartz’s office was polite and asked for my contact information. She never votes the way I’d like, but her people are courteous and follow up with a letter. Senator Specter’s office likewise is courteous and takes down the information. Senator Casey’s office always has me ready to blow a gasket. His staffers keep interrupting to give me his standard Dem talking points and don’t listen. I predict they’ll all vote left, left, left, but at least I let them know I’m paying attention out here in voter-land. It was hard to get through to the senators offices; both put me on extended hold. They’re getting a lot of calls.

As Obama never wrote a bill during is four years of paychecks in the Senate that accomplished anything, it is interesting that he comes up with thousand page bills every couple of days, all the while in his twice around the world vacation tour.

Obama has a point when he stops being the Messiah and becomes a pariah. Congress, yes even the Dems, has a point where it resents being told how to vote, they resent the threats, they throw down the gauntlet. Not a single pub is gonna vote for this health thing, not a one. It’s a ticket to instant defeat, bank on it.

I loved the comments that he will NOT AllOW the bill to increase the deficit. But that one third of the trillion dollar bill is not covered so congress must find ways to fund it.
