Sarah wrote a brilliant op-ed in the Wash Post last week about energy, the backbone of the American economy. The Americans have a choice, she said. We can either develop our own coal, oil reserves, and nuclear or be dependent on Saudi Arabia. Russia, and the like. GWB or GHWB wouldn’t take on OPEC. Maybe Sarah will. She can also take on the global-warming, climate change enviro-wackos who will kill this country if cap and trade nonsense is enacted.

Like Ronald Reagan she has the ability to speak over the American media and directly to the American people.

I am praying that she will deliver us from evil. Keep in mind, we had a very good week on the natural-born citizen issue with Major Cook. If the Keyes lawsuit in Santa Ana goes well, BHO could go down very quickly, exposing the DNC and the commie-left liars for who they are.

In a more stable America, VDH would be right Palin taking her time to prepare.

Not now. Our nation is out of time. Plus, I think Sarah Palin will be ready by 2012.

So why is Palin not qualified? We have had years of incompetence in government and have it in abundance now. Why are truth and facts and honesty and decency and integrity bad? And old quote: ‘truth forever on the scaffold, wrong forever on the throne’. Believe Ms. Palin would bring truth to the throne.

The old and current approach has gotten us in the biggest mess ever. Americans, wake-up.

Hanson makes a lot of good points. Missing from his analysis, though, it the Jackie Kennedy factor. On any scale, who is closer to the Kennedy Camelot: Sarah Palin, or Michelle Obama.

The answer is clearly Sarah. Michelle dresses lilke a clown, and looks like one, in spite of all the media attempts to paint her like a vogue model. Sarah always looks sophisticated, even when the media attempts to paint her like a Wal-Mart welfare queen. The answer, in my view is that the left totally fears her - not for her plain-ness, but rather for her sophistication.

2016 will be too late, I’m not sure we will have anything close to a “free election” in 2012 as it is, GO NOW Sarah, begin (well, soon as you’re clear of AK Governorship), clearing the decks for action, run out the guns, sand the decks, we’re ready.

These times are like no other for this nation so the normal template can’t be applied, the stakes are that this is going to be our last chance, it will be a total win or a total loss with us going into the darkness. No compromise, it must be all or nothing for the good of the country and that’s where your heart is, we know. Go for it, we’re behind you.

2012, baby, 2012.

Waiting is for patients in a Socialist Healthcare system. The Country needs Palin to lead now!

Seems that the timing of her arrival on the national stage points to 2012. And now she’s free to show more of the country the real Sarah Palin, unfettered by campaign handlers and the backstabbers among them.

All the well-intended advice is moot. Sarah will decide what to do based on the inner guidance that has brought her to this point.

She knows Life; she knows its Author. She knows right from wrong.

She knows the heart and soul of America. She is indeed Sarah America.

I’ll bet she knows the U.S. Constitution better than anyone in the current administration or 90% of those seated in Congress.

She knows how to lead and inspire others to serve who are experts in the various fields where she lacks expertise. That’s what matters most.

Therefore her knowledge is more than adequate imo.

And I was raised in the northeast and “educated” at Hahvahd.

Peggy Noonan and the rest of you elitist critics: where did you receive your degrees?

Just curious.

The time is now. Not 2016 or after. If she fails, she fails. People will be begging for CHANGE by 2012!

Sorry for the ‘either/or' reductive binary: but I saw more stupid people in graduate school and three decades in academia than I ever did who ran 100 acres without going broke-and more of the latter whom I'd trust not to bankrupt the country and let down our defenses than of the former.

Amen to that. I've worked with folks who have Masters in Computer Science or Information Technology who were utterly worthless at development - any more, you can get advanced degrees with the ability to regurgitate what you have been taught - no thinking or analysis required. Whereas someone who has to function in the real world must have those abilities - you cannot hide your flaws for long there (unless you get on the management fast track quickly enough).

"I don't think we can afford to wait until 2016. What say you? "

I say that we can not wait until 2012 either. We need to focus on the 2010 elections and revisit this conversation when they are over.

What a great article:

In my book, Victor Davis Hanson is the greatest living historian.

One of my first acts every morning, while the coffee is brewing, is check to see if he has a new article.

This one is possible the most enjoyable read ever! (plus, as always, I get to look up a couple of new words or latin phrases — just like Plato, Hanson not only informs and teaches, but teaches us how to learn at the same time.)

As far as the politics go, he is right on. Whether or not Palin proves to be the best conservative candidate in 2012, the fact for now is that she is the only one we know of who is getting any press. The others, notably but not limited to Mitch Romney, may be viable “republicans” but they darn sure aren’t “conservative” in the sense of solidly differentiating themselves from the democrat-socialists.

We can’t wait to 2016 but I think VDH may not fully understand we are entering our Dark Ages. If I remember correctly VDH has meet Gov. Palin on that Weekly Standard trip to AK but did not spend a lot of time with her. So his opinion is from afar. Gov. Palin may be reluctant to join the fray for a 2012 run but we as her supporters will force her to ans. the Calling. I think Gov. Palin is the type not to secondguess on what could’ve been and feel guilty later on if she did not try. I hope that makes sense ^.

Gov. Palin is not going to let us down she will try until she succeeds. It may take a couple of tries but it will happen. I just pray it’s 2012.

No, we can’t. BO is busy destroying the US economy so he can create his national socialist utopia.

Afford to wait? I don't think so, but it's too early to speculate. So much depends upon what obama and the dems can pass before the 2010 elections, how and what the republicans do before 2010 and their 2010 election results.

At the moment, Palin is filling a void as there are few Republican or conservative personalities who have national recognition and appeal. That void will likely be filled by someone other than Palin before or during the 2012 primary races. Much depends on what Sarah Palin does in these next few years and, of course, obama's popularity or lack thereof will also be a large factor.

If, by some miracle, the economy is booming, and 0bama is very popular, I’d advise she wait until 2016. But, if the economy isn’t any better than it is now, with inflation setting in, unemployment continuing to go up or at least holding at about 10 percent. Her chances would be tremendous. She can accomplish all that stuff about reading and traveling over the next 3 years. If a community organizer who has never so much as ran a lemonade stand can get elected, Palin with all her real experience can too.

I think conservatives politcians should be well travelled if for any other reason that they should know how crappy the rest of the world really is compared to the USA.
