Oh please...this actually happened to me once and I am white. I locked myself out of the house and was trying to get in a window when the cops showed up. I told them I was the owner of the house, showed my ID and that was the end of it.

Sounds like another black liberal with a chip on his shoulder. All he had to do was stop and show that he lived there.

According to police, an officer ordered the man to identify himself and Prof Gates refused.

According to police, an officer ordered the man to identify himself and Prof Gates refused. And there's your problem, right there.

#1 rule. Treat the police with respect and answer all their questions. Once the officer thinks his safety is secured, then bring up the fact that it was his house and how he was trying to break in.
I’m amazed at people who literally scream at the police and then wonder why they’re in the back of a squad car. Golden rule and all that...

“Henry Louis Gates Jr, America’s most famous black scholar”
Never heard of him until now. Too busy trying to make a living for myself rather than worrying about the problems of blacks.

Blacks are to be excluded from being labeled criminals. This is especially true if you are a “somebody”! LOL!!!

According to police, an officer ordered the man to identify himself and Prof Gates refused. I would *hope* and *expect* to be asked for ID if I was seen breaking into my house. I live in a small town but I don't expect the cops to know everybody here.
He is the director of Harvard University's WEB du Bois Institute for African and African American Research.
Gee I wonder if this has anything to do with his attitude??

“#1 rule. Treat the police with respect and answer all their questions.”
The name of the officer is “Ma’am,” or “Sir.” Form of address is “No Sir/Yes Sir” “No Ma’am/Yes Ma’am.” Make the job as easy as possible for the officer. If you go to the police, they will be in a better mood than if they have to go to you.

Indeed. By all means, if they mug you, just make it easier and hand them your purse/wallet. If they try anything else, they are fair game.

He allegedly began calling the officer a racist, repeatedly saying: “This is what happens to black men in America.” Officers said they tried to calm down the 58-year-old academic only for him to tell them: “You don't know who you're messing with.” “ Groan!
Exactly who does this turd think he is? God?
He is black, so therefore he's above the law?
The sheer arrogance of some of these idiotic black “academics” simply boggles the mind. They should charge him in court for disorderly behavior and fine his butt off.
