Sen. Susan Collins announced Tuesday that she would become the fourth Senate Republican to support Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to the Supreme Court.
The support from the Maine centrist is the latest sign that Sotomayor will be confirmed by a comfortable majority before the Senate adjourns for its summer recess on Aug. 7.
"Judge Sotomayor has impressive legal experience, has excelled throughout her life and is a tremendously accomplished person," Collins said. "And based on my review of her record, my assessment of her character and my analysis of her adherence to precedent, Judge Sotomayor warrants confirmation to the high court."

If this stupid broad ever gets another Republican dime it won’t be mine...they will get nothing from me as long as they keep supporting these morons...
Come on, who was really surprised by this? The GOP is still acting like she’s only strayed a couple times. The woman is bedding the Democratic leadership.
RINO is too generous. I don’t understand why she stays a Republican, she doesn’t support any of the principles that, at least ostensibly, the Republicans propound.
Room temperature IQ.
Another Vichy republican collaborating with
the National Socialist Democrat American Party (NSDAP)
Agreed. The Bank of Puppage is closed until further notice.
WOW Susan...
What does Soto have on you ??????????
With Jeffords and Chafee gone, she and her tag-team partner (Snow) are probably the most predictably treacherous Republicans in office.
Any conservatives out there in MO ready to take on Kit????
He is "retiring" after this term so has nothing to fear from electorate but seems desirous of maintaining his popularity with libs, dims and blacks in Kansas City and St. Louis.
Mo residents - let him know that she is NOT qualified and is very racist in her views according to her own words, if you care to keep this woman from becoming a lifetime member of the "Supremes."
Maine, get rid of those fruit cakes.
The woman has little, if any, common sense, and is not the sort of person you'd trust with the cashregister.
Collins and Snowe are very popular in Maine. Collins was just reeelected in November with 61% of the vote and no opposition in the primary. She’ll be in office until 2015.
I can’t believe they are that DUMB in Maine!
See how limp=wristed Steel really is: she allows this traitor to act like this in the open.
Collins is a left wing Republican.
Steele doesn’t have any say over this....
Collins ( and snowe) is more liberal than many dems. Why she is a republican is beyond me, unless he wants to be a mole in the party.
No surprise....and would not be surprised if more GOP senators vote for Sotomayor
Even crazier is that the commie Ruth Buzzi Ginsburg had only 1 GOP vote against her when she was confirmed. Soto will get many GOP votes, unfortunately
“Why she is a republican is beyond me, unless he wants to be a mole in the party.”
I can picture them spelling things out in front of her and her looking all confused...”screw the d....e.....m.....o... c...r...a...t...s...”
“Huh? What?”
