If the proper fees were paid, then the artist gave his permission.

"a pledge by the GOP not to use any musicians' work without proper permission in future campaigns, a statement that Browne said he hoped would benefit other artists."I'm all for intellectual property rights...but something makes me think that Browne won't ask the Democrats to make a similar pledge. Once again, for the liberals, it's okay to break the law, as long as I agree with you.

McCain’s campaign never had ANYTHING in the “tank” to run on, except for Palin!
Jackson Browne sucks, too. Whinny little voice over semi decent tunes.

Jackson Browne......Put out a few spectacular albums 35 years ago such as Late for the Sky. Now he’s just a pseudo-commie pain in the rear

If the proper fees were paid, then the artist gave his permission. Agreed. The composer has no say in how is work is used as long as the proper license fees were paid.

I'm all for intellectual property rights...but something makes me think that Browne won't ask the Democrats to make a similar pledge. Once again, for the liberals, it's okay to break the law, as long as I agree with you. If Browne wants dems to use his music in their ads that's his right as the copyright holder. There's nothing political in this story, it's all about protecting property rights.

I remember when Jackson got busted while demonstrating at the main gate of Diablo Canyon Nuke plant in SoCal. When the cops put the cuffs on him, he uttered, “careful with the wrists.”
He is another superb example of that great hollywood/entertainment biz axiom: “I am famous, therefore, I am smart.”
Putz.

Reminds me of the old monty python political skit regarding the silly party, the ultra silly party, etc.
Here we have the moron party vs the evil party.
