Because they claim to be of a certain faith, but do not practice their religion faithfully?
... I was working with a group of black workers, helping them with a task. I asked that question, and they said ..."It was the Democrats that freed the slaves, thank God for Lincoln." I'm serious, they as a group BELIEVED this. A computer was "nearby" so we went to the Internet and looked it up (took all of 2 minutes). They then discussed how the information had probably been corrupted by Republicans who "ran" the Internet. (I didn't mention to them that Al Gore, a Dem, had invented it). This story sounds extreme, but it actually happened. Our problem (and I don't mean this racially) ... is ignorance. 2 minutes at a computer to get a basic historical fact ... and it was beyond this group ... even when faced with the fact, they refuted it. That's what we're up against. And if Obama's minister teaches such nonsense from the pulpit and the NEA allows such misunderstandings (or allows salient facts to be omitted from the curriculum) to be believed during the education of our young people ... then this is the result. I'm betting the answer to the Jewish part of this question is similar, but I've had not personal contact in that area to craft a potential answer.
