Texas is paying the price for all the coolness you’re enjoying in the East. We’ve set more record highs down here than I can recall - and the associated drought is one of the worst in recorded history. The persistent ridge/trough pattern is more winterlike than mid-summer. Let’s hope it changes soon as the water situation is reaching critical levels for many areas.

I remember summer 1979ish, 90 straight days of over 90 and 30 something days of over 100. Yes this summer is hot, but I’ve seen hotter. But you are right about the drought, this is the worst drought I’ve seen in S.E. Texas. Almost wishing for a topical thing to bring some rain to us. Even the grass is dying! I’ve never seen that before.
