Officer of no color
Editor's Note: You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. The President is now backpedaling from his woefully uninformed comments made about a fine officer from Massachusetts. Calling Sergeant James Crowley on the phone and saying to the press that Crowley is "a fine man" rings hollow today because of the knee-jerk reaction we heard on Wednesday. Police work is infinitely more complex than a 10-second sound-bite, and the President's comments are just the most recent, most visible evidence that a lack of understanding about law enforcement permeates our society. I and my team here at PoliceOne hope that something good can come of this mess. We hope that some number of the public take this opportunity to at least try to understand the complexity of police work, and appreciate the fine service performed by American Law Enforcement every day.
Doug Wyllie, PoliceOne Senior Editor Racist!
Every Officer of no color has been there. Youve stopped a car at night for a violation. The windows are tinted to obscure the identity of the driver and when the contact is made it is learned that the person driving is a person of color. The yelling, the invectives, and the charges of racism begin immediately."

People seem to have forgotten that he said if was seen trying to break into a house in D.C., he would get shot by the police.
That's as much of an insult as he levied against the Cambridge police department.
IMO, for obamanation, it was simply supporting a black man by a black man because he was a black man...
that would have been called “hate talk” if gates was white talking to a black policeman...plus the hated word “racist”.
I can’t imagine a white president jumping to a white person’s defense simply because he was white.
the rules are completely reversed when it is black on white. No longer is it black AND white.
Well, actually one can, but it's a pain and definitely not worth the effort.
The law is, and should be colored blind. Period. Laws apply equally to everyone.
Ok, so when is someone from Hollywood going to go on an awards show and say, “Obama doesn’t like white people”?
Don't worrry. The law is increasingly colorblind. Youtube videos reveals many examples of whites (including a 72 year old grandmother) being tased or arrested for doing nothing more questioning cops. Moreover, many conservatives now automatically take the side of the government in favor of this form of colorblind abuse. Happy now?
Obama was right.
Gates was treated differently than a white man would have been.
Cops would have pulled their guns to protect themselves from a crazed white guy holding a cane.
I am old enough to remember a strong black middle class of decent individuals who raised their kids to aspire and get an education. They dressed modestly, behaved decently and worked hard, attended church, got married and raised their children.
Then, the 60s changed everything. Gee, thanks, Abbie Hoffman, Jane Fonda, Tom Hayden, Dick Gregory, Walter Cronkite, Ben Bradlee, Gloria Steinem, Bella Abzug, Germaine Greer, and all you cop-hating, woman-hating rap and hip-hop artists and other self-righteous loudmouths out there.... You wanted a revolution. Now we have it: skyrocketing social disorder, fatherless children, addiction, plunging scholastic achievement, decadent morality, never-ending lawsuits, 25% of white children and 70% of black children born out of wedlock and a quarter of our black men doing jail time. Can't have those harmful Bible readings, scout meetings and Lord's prayers upsetting children in schools!
The gloves can come off. Let the games begin.
Well I guess you can always try putting it back in the tube. You just won’t be very successful at it.
Obama is a Bigot.
Yes, but aren’t all race hustlers?
The Progressive Movement is far from “progress”.
OPINION
It does not matter what the officer’s ideology is, I see my hands.
In this particular case, the officer responded by the book to a call and President Obama chose to insert his opinion as the President of the United States.
Not only did the President express his opinion on an incident he apparently did not have all the facts about; his expression of a verbal opinion might be construed as interference in this incident.

I am old enough Albion Wilde to know that all my friends and acquaintances still do.
