related the story that the cruel white cop handcuffed the poor old professor behind his back,
but the merciful black cop listened to his pleas and changed the cuffs to the front.

Sergeant Crowly’s statement said he asked the other officer to move the handcuffs while he retrieved the person in custody's cane.
