Can not wait to hear the recording the police officer made at the scene. I hope they don’t block or somehow remove the belligence coming from the racist Professor Gates in the background.

911 OPERATOR: And what do the suitcases have to do with anything?

Doofus! Like you want this guy critiquing your call while a house is ransacked? Can we send this 911 operator a "bunny-with-pancake-on-head" public service award?

Why, that EVIL RACIST caller! I’m glad the 911 operator gave her a hard time. We must find this woman and RUIN her along with that horrible Sargent Crowly.

Is being an idiot a requirement for a 911 operator, or does it just work out that way?

The 911 tape is interesting but the tape that I want to see released is the tape of the Mr. Gates' tirade that was recorded when Sgt. Crowley purposely left his mic open.

I'm sure that the mayor of Cambridge, a good friend of Gates, will make sure that never happens.

I hope we get the police radio traffic so we can read what happened after Crowley got there.

I believe that the whole affair was a set-up by Gates to build his street cred. The 9-1-1 call strengthens that feeling. Consider:

First, Lucia Whalen is a Harvard Magazine employee who just happened to be passing by when some old woman, yet to be identified, asked her to call in the breaking and entering report. Why didn't the old woman hang around to see if her suspicions were correct? What's the odds of this during the middle of a work day?

Second, she reported that “So, I'm not sure if this is two individuals who actually work there, I mean, who live there.” This is suspicious because Gates’ Foundation used 17 Ware St as its HQ, but Gates listed his address as being elsewhere at Harvard. Why did this Harvard Employee say “work here?” when by all appearances it was a private home?

Third, She reported about the suitcases which were presumably visible to her by being on the porch. It had earlier been reported that Gates and his chauffeur had returned from the airport, were dressed in suits and got into the house through the back door after failing to get into the front door. But if you look at the picture of his arrest, Gates is dressed informally in a polo shirt. I find it hard to understand why, if he had time to change out of his suit (if the report was accurate) and the chauffeur had presumably made sure that Gates was safely in his home before leaving, that they both left the suitcases on the front steps, unsecured. Does not ring true.

Fourth was Gates reaction of hostility right from the beginning which was described as unnatural by several of the cops who responded.

The whole affair does not ring true and smells like a setup.

Saddest part in all of this is how many will now be reluctant to report a potential crime they may see in progress?
