McCoy: You realize that by giving him the formula you’re altering the future.
Scotty: Why? How do we know he didn’t invent the thing?

Short enough to be irrelevant for all practical purposes, but long enough to justify a headline (and maybe another gubmint grant somewhere).

that’s the politicosecond. 1/10,000 of a femtosecond.
altho its been argued that because its happening so fast, that the promise may already be broken before it is made.

A "Politicosecond" - now
there is a highly useful term!
Although as you suggest, both quantum mechanics and experience suggest that a politician's promise may be broken before it is in fact, made.
It might also help explain the Alternative Universe in which most Democrats appear to operate - no matter how infinite the possible number of outcomes, they always elect the one that results in higher taxes and less freedom.

Cool..It would be awesome to have an aluminum roof to listen to the rain and still be able to see it as well......Interesting.... I can do that with my skylights and glass pyramid roof.

femtoseconds ???
40 x 10-15
0.000000000000040 seconds.
That's a lot of zeros after that decimal point.

This stuff is really cool. So many uses. I just sold 50 tons of this material to the military. It’s stacked right over there. No there... ok see it? No? Well give me the check and I will show you exactly where it is.

How long is a femtosecond? About the time it takes for Obama to break a campaign promise.

One slight problem:
This turned the aluminium nearly invisible to extreme ultraviolet radiation.
Most of us don't see well in the extreme UV part of the spectrum.
Also, why do they consider it a new form of matter? Isn't it still a solid.?

Cool...Still nothing beats the soothing sound of raindrops on a tin roof. Love listening to that...better sleeping noise than any Sharper Image toy could ever provide....LOL

Ah... transparent
"Aluminium" (the metal) instead of transparent
"Alumina", (the oxide)* which we've always had...
