Sorry guys, I think a knock is in order, except under the most extreme circumstances. A lot of home invasions have occurred with the perps busting in no-knock SWAT style while shouting “Police” to suppress resistance.
I could even imagine an automated “knocker” which would remove the danger of a through-the-door shooting could be used in many circumstances. It wouldn’t be too hard to design.
I would definitely agree with you on that we can’t base public policy on the lowest denominator.
And that won’t be a bad idea to have a remote controlled ‘knocker’ - if they can go through the trouble of bring out a group bedecked in their SWAT regalia, why can’t they bring a small robot to knock on the door first?
Agreed! The idea that a suspect may flush a baggie means that the cops didn't have a whole lot on him to begin with.
It seems that pre dawn raids with overwhelming force are more the norm now that the exception. Those tactics really do belong more in an urban combat zone or third world thug-ocracy.
Yeah, maybe some of the inner cities qualify....but....
