Facing the first real rough patch of his presidency, President Obama and his supporters are once again resorting to a tried-and-true tactic: attacking George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.
In his White House press conference last week, Mr. Obama referred to the Bush era at least nine times, three times lamenting that he "inherited" a $1.3 trillion debt that has set back his administration's efforts to fix the economy.
With the former president lying low in Dallas, largely focused on crafting his memoirs, Mr. Obama has increasingly attempted to exploit Mr. Bush when discussing the weak economy, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the difficulty closing the military prison at U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

George WHO?
His drop in the polls have corresponded with the length of time since Bush left office.
0bama makes W look like one of the most fiscally conservative presidents ever.
It may have been a “tried and true” tactic for a few months after the election, but many folks are seeing through it, now.
By 2010 the dimmhis must run against their own record, not GWB and VP Cheney...who are starting to look damn good again as folks compare times.
A coward, but a dangerous coward.
The outgoing Soviet Premier had a chat with the incoming Soviet Premier. He gave him two letters. he told him to open the first letter when he got in trouble. The second letter should be opened the second time he got in trouble.
So, the new premier finds himself in a jam. He opens the first letter. It read “Blame your predecessor.”
Time goes on, and he finds himself in a jam again. He opens the second letter. It read “Write two letters...”
The Dems have controlled Congress since January 2007. Obama voted for TARP and originated the Porkulus bill. Blaming Bush should be refuted by the GOP leadership in Congress. They should be going after the Dems on this. Otherwise, the public, as the polls attest, will still believe that Bush is responsible for the economy.
A lot of people won’t put up with this for much longer. Bush isn’t around, front and center. Most people have moved on and are paying attention to the guy who shows up on TV. They aren’t interested in hearing about the guy who isn’t on TV anymore. How often does a series television show bring up a departed character? Once or twice for closure, but it gets stale after that.
I work with a girl like that. She can barely do her own job... but tries to make everyone else here look bad so she can look good. On her own, she is worthless.
What is Obama's answer for everything for the next eight years Alex?
"Voters have short memories. The administration needs to remind people that things were way worse over the last four years than in the last six months."
What planet was that on?
Like heck he did. None of that money wwas spend. And another point, is he voted for that bail out money, as did ALL democrats. Still if it was such a bad thing, why did they go ahead and spend it after Obama was sworn in?, including 100 billion gift to acorn?
That actually only amounts to about 330 billion. It would be less if Obama would let the banks pay it back.
Obama has nothing but "blame Bush", and it's not working very well.
I am continually amazed that our current President worked so hard to get a job that he hates. It is astounding.
Obama and Biden act like US Senators are just innocent bystanders.
Yep, 20 consecutive quarters of growth, the DOW of 13,000+ and 4.5% unemployment was way worse than it is now!
Idiots.
This is an interesting summary of Bush’s time in office:
