I’ve heard most people live underground during the winter ....

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh We do have a lot of snow, but most winters, we probably have a nice warm sunny day with glorious weather for every snowy day. Don't tell anyone, though. We're happy to have most people think the winters are terribly harsh as we don't want too many people moving here

When it isn't actively snowing, it's fun to hike, bike, and walk.

Skiing, of course.

The springs at Mount Princeton are fabulous in the winter. Nothing like sitting in the middle of a rushing ice cold creek with snow everywhere, warm and cozy in your own little thermal rock pool.

Taking the train to the top of Pikes Peak in the winter, past herds of elk is always fun.

Visiting Manitou when the tourists are gone. Heck, visiting anywhere in Colorado when the tourists are gone - we do most of our "local" sight seeing in the winter. Museums, galleries, shops, restaurants, etc., which are busy in the summer, are quieter in the winter.

Hikes through Garden of the Gods in the winter. Last year we saw elk playing in the snow one time, sheep the next, and mule deer pretty much every time.

We love to visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in the winter - many of the animals seem more active in the winter for some reason.

Colorado, and especially Colorado Springs is gorgeous and fun year 'round.

Pretty much the same here .... we have the Cascades where I ski, Stevens Pass or up on Snoqualmie Pass ... I hike the Cascades in the summer ... over on the Peninsula we have Hurricane Ridge, great hiking there plus some warm springs to soak in ... I live on the Peninsula on six acres of heavily forested land ... our place is over a mile up a forest service road ...

I agree that we don’t want that many people moving here. But in spite of our wants people still come.

Articles like the ones I cited in Money and Outside don’t help.

But since people are going to come anyway might as well make it conservative people.
