Gwinnett To Enforce Immigration Laws
The Left ^ | July 13th | AP Obama

Posted on 07/30/2009 3:00:20 AM PDT by Halfmanhalfamazing

The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department has entered into a 287(g) agreement, making it the fourth law enforcement agency in Georgia to do so.

The 287(g) program deputizes local law enforcement agencies to enforce federal immigration laws.

Gwinnett is the first Georgia county to enter into such an agreement since a federal Government Accountability Office investigation released in March raised concerns about the program and led the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency to make some changes.

Gwinnett's entry into the agreement is being cheered by anti-immigration groups and lamented by immigrant rights activists.

Typical liberal media article.

This isn't about immigrants, and there aren't very many anti-immigrant groups.

This is about illegal aliens. And there are plenty of anti alien groups.

Sherrifs should Deputize entire local populations. These Posses could then fight the Federal takeover and invasion of illegals.

Gwinnett County won't be doing that for long. I've heard that Ø is going to do away with 287(g) agreements.

Actually there are no anti alien groups, either...

Just plenty of pro-immigration groups..

The illegal aliens and their enablers are the anti-immigration groups...

Come here but come here legally...

All immigrants are aliens, too...

The word just means that they were born in a country outside the US...

and are not US citizens...

The Green Card of a registered Alien is called an “Alien Registration card...

It has an Alien Registration number...

That same AR Number is annotated on the top right hand corner of Naturalization/US citizenship documents..

Words mean something...

For too long we have used the same terms as the AMNESTY crowd...

They mix apples and oranges and we have helped them...

“Immigration rights”? How come everything we’re against and everything they are for is a “right”. I’m also against “murder rights” and “rape rights” and “theft rights”.

They don't mention the other agencies, but safe to assume the adjoining counties like mine will feel the effect. A step in the right direction though as Gwinnett has allowed the illegals to downright flourish in the county. Especially the Mexicans on the Buford Highway corridor and the Koreans in the mall area.

The sheriff's office will have to move to hire 18 deputies to replace those deputies who will be required to man the 287(g) program.

I do have a problem with this. Why isn't every officer, fireman, hospital worker, social worker and other county agent able to perform this task? Make no sense except $.

Waste of time.

Obama/Napolitano/Holder are rewritting all the 287g agreements to make them ineffective. For example, if the cops arrest an illegal for a drunk driving fatality, they will file multiple charges - vehicular homicide, manslaughter, DUI, driving without a license, leaving the scene, etc.

The new 287g will require that ALL such charges be adjudicated to their conclusion before the Feds will take on the illegal. No District Attorney is going to waste time prosecuting all of those offenses to a conclusion because of cost and time. As a result, even if convicted of manslaughter, the illegal will not be deported under 287g because the police/DA did not finish the driving without a license charge.

And Holder/Obama want to terminate the daily reimbursement to local jails for holding the illegal, so sheriffs will let them go rather than expend $100/day to keep each illegal.

And the “investigative journalists” will never tell you about this.

I live in Gwinnett County. The illegals have taken over Duluth, Lawrenceville (that is where the Mexican Drug Cartels are headquartered), Lilburn, Dacula, Norcross (toilet) they are basically everywhere but Suwanee.

Gwinnett Place Mall area is now a prime spot for drug deals and shootings. Discover Mills, go there and see what is walking around in that Mall. The Super Walmart on Hwy 29, doesn’t even carry the same items that the others do, it is all spanish, funky stuff. Lilburn Elementary school, 85% hispanic on free lunch! All of the schools in that cluster had to go to uniforms because of the gang color thing. By middle school the kids are knee deep. Lucky Shoals park, shut down their youth athletic programs a few years ago because the gangs took over the park and it was too dangerous for the kids to be there.

2 yrs. ago the county paid teachers to go to Mexico to learn how to teach the spanish kids here in Gwinnett!

Jeez, they gangs tag EVERYTHING! Whole neighborhoods! You don’t need to be a detective to find them, they know nobody will touch them, and believe me they do not hide in the shadows!!

I do not understand why Gangs are not considered Terrorist Organizations. Well, I kind of do, it would be profiling.

Not right now.

You have to look at the memo Napolitano sent out to the current cities and counties with MOAs (our town is one of them). The news releases two weeks ago about the changes describe the new requirement that police and prosecuters take all violations cited at the time of arrest to their conclusion. It was a clever way to say that they are still enforcing 287g, knowung that no DA is going to take to trial on all counts an illegal who has committed multiple violations at the time of arrest, so ICE can say “no deal” on deporting the illegal, even if he is convicted of the major crime.

If I can find it again I will send it on.
